Friday
The end of the work week for most folks. There is an exception here. It's soup kitchen tomorrow morning. The beat goes on. There was breakfast with all the usual things that come along. I did a lawn clean up gathering up stuff from yesterday. I added more later in the day cleaning up some ivy. I hate that stuff and it is now on the bad invasive list. Sounds good to me.
This may need a little more work. I'm trying to keep the ivy from creeping into the flowerbed from the back of the bed.At 10:15 I was on my way to pick flowers. It was a great morning seeing almost the whole Oehler family. Kara was home from Sweidan with her family. What a treat. This is what I will be using at church tomorrow for altar flowers.
We'll add a few more things. And I'm going to have some good fun tomorrow morning. There will be three arrangements.
Last night it happened. Thin Hosta leaves seem to never escape a nibble. I would say this was more than a nibble. Let's say it was a tummy full.
Last night's deer treats were two Hosta's beside the patio. I trimmed up one that grows beautiful white flowers and decided that the big one now devoid of any leaves needed to go. So, out it came. I made a trip to Rosie's to see what I could see and although there was a lot to see I just wasn't tempted to buy anything. I liked the plants at Wild Birds and if luck was with me, I might find something. And yes, there were a few plants left and one came home with me. It was all of 2.50. Fingers crossed it will live. The roots don't look very happy.
Another trick that seemed to happen last night was a big climb up the bird feeder post by the deer. It was pushed over a bit. That feeder came down and I am feeding only finch food until it gets cold again. I hope the deer get the hint. Check on another yard for a food truck.
All on one pole with the hummingbird juice not far away. The rabbit continues to clip off zinnia branches and I continue to keep up with snipping. Some plants are getting smaller and smaller. I don't think it is supposed to happen that way.
It's been a while, but Doug needed to do a bit of relocation transporting again with another chipmunk. And then supper came along. It was another good garden salad.
One thing I hope to do is check the garden for anything we might be able to give away at soup kitchen tomorrow. I think there might be cucumbers and a few tomatoes. I'll look and gather later tonight.
This is a possibility. So another Friday almost over. There are clean clothes for the coming week. We'll make an Aldi's stop tomorrow afternoon. The garden is in a pretty good place and I think it's time to enjoy it till the weeds visit again. Early tomorrow morning the Michigan family will be on their camping way to the U P. And Noah one of our Carmel grandsons is back from the Boundry Waters. Busy summer but I'm ready to just let the world go by for just a bit.
