Thursday
What part of the plant is used for Hibiscus Tea? The flower? Let me know and I'll try it.
Does the color make a difference in T taste? I just can't stop taking these pictures. So, it's Thursday ALL day and it has been a wonderful day. The temperature has moderated and it's been in the 70's all day. Woo, woo. With a little rain now and then I couldn't ask for more. When it wasn't now and then, I was in the garden morning, noon, afternoon and maybe night. For the night, it still is to be determined.
Side by side friends. Both trying to outdo the other.I would think if I said it was weed pulling again you might not believe it, since I use those words over and over. But...it really was a weed pulling morning, noon, afternoon, and night to be determined. There just isn't to many places I would rather be. And as usual, along with the heat and the moisture, everything grows including everything. The garden cart was more than full and I know you know what that looks like.
A beautiful cup plant flower. We had a wonderful thunderstorm last night with more than an inch of rain. I found somethings looked a bit smashed and I spent a little time staking up some things. Then there was shaking off some things like grasses and just removing the weight of the water helped them to get their feet back under themselves.
Asking for sympathy but by afternoon they were standing nice and tall.I spent quite a while dead heading Becky Daisy's. Woo. I wasn't going to do that because in another week I can wack all of them off but when started the only place to stop is when the job is completed. So, of course it looks a whole lot better. There were three huge beds that received a clipping.
One of two Daliah with a perfect flower.
I cut two humongous tomatoes off making sure that we get to eat them and not some unknown character. They are not totally ripened but will be before not to long. More BLT's coming our way. I'll be buying more bacon!
It would seem that this Daliah is holding a surprise. To be seen very soon.I called it a day at 3:30 with hamstrings yelling STOP. So, I did. Grandson Noah's back to school night is tonight and Doug is doing an early Eric pick up allowing the Eric family to escape the tardy line. I think Noah is a Jr. this year. I need to check for sure. Time flies for sure with the grandsons. I stayed home to start the blog.
The two largest tomatoes are today's pick. The cup measure gives you a sense of size. Don't look, Leslie.During the lunch break I finished preparing the supper meal. Planning ahead is what it is all about.
There is nothing like Hollyhocks atop Bumble Hill. It's a perfect place with perfect weather. That is for Holly Hocks in the summer. Winters might change a southerner's idea of perfect.I filled the Finch Feeder, and the Finch family is taking advantage of having no pesky sparrows around. Only Finch. I counted 5 males and more females at the feeder today. There's yellow color flitting around. (Sound of Music?)
So the day was a very, very good day. I saw one deer and NO bunnies. I found a little scull maybe belonging to a bunny in the front yard where the vultures were chewing away. It warms my heart! Don't throw anything at me!!!!
And a few more UP pictures...
Ice cream with Leslie and Dennis at the top of Bumble Hill, Michigan. Leslie and the BOYS! More beautiful flowers with a few steps closer.
It was so so nice to spend some time with the Russell family! And Smokey ( cat ) loved the attention! Even Boots came downstairs to find out what all the purring was about. - Leslie
ReplyDeletehibiscus tea is made from the petals (the red ones) and I have always seen them dried - it is good cold as well as hot. It is called bissap in Senegal - where I first drank it - and have enjoyed it since.
