A Me Day

I am quick to admit that most days have me somewhere doing this or not doing that.  Today had a lot of me in it doing for me..

I decided that I was not going to water a thing today.  They had to do without me.  So I didn't do that.  The first big doing for me was a haircut.  Woo,  It was more than overdue with the feeling that a huge bush was growing out of my head now covered with snow but still feeling hot but not as hot as earlier this week.  

                         It's white alright!!! Thank goodness for the thickness that comes with curls.
               That's quite important for the covering over the  patched hole. Who would have thought?

Then it was off to the library, returning a whole bunch of gardening books and borrowing just a few this week.  The interesting fact is that Carmel Library is in the middle of a remodeling that has been 2 years in the doing.  The remodeled version will open this fall and the library now has given Oct. 7th as the return date for this borrowed set of books.  I guess there will be a lot going on moving the books from their current home, an old Marsh Grocery Store back to their new home.  Liberians need the time it would seem to get everything in it's rightful place.  Who would have thought?

                Purple and white phlox starting to bloom.  We should have some decent flowers this year.  


I stopped at Goodwill to use a gift card to find a few things. After trying things on at home I returned a pair of pants and bought more stuff before that buying spree was completed.  Two really good bath towels for 1.99 each are in the closet.  Theyappear to be new towels.  Two pr. of shorts at 4.99 each. Three tops, two look like they were never worn.  I love bargins and shopping with no one breathing down my neck to "help".  Guess I could have saved a little more money waiting for Wed. senior day.  I understand that the man who started Goodwill was a member of North Church before he moved east to start this new venture many years ago.   Who would have thought? 

A cabbage heading up!  Thank goodness they are taking turns.  Who would have thought that's important? Eight cabbage heads at once.  I can't begin to think about that.  

Garden Report.  Big Bertha peppers are emerging.  The deer have decided that Red Beet leaves are there for them. Last night was a veggie night of dining.  Bummer... I don't agree with them.  

                                        I would say their size has a way to go to be a Bertha. 

        The evening ended with a FACETIME trip through the Michigan Russell's garden.  What fun.  

True or False.  IPhone Rain Alerts...they have been FALSE for the last three weeks.  Quit teasing.

Amazing Saturday

 For many reasons it has been an amazing day.  One to remember as long as memory allows me.   Once again sleep did not stick with me, so I was once again out of bed around 1 last night.  I thought of checking the IU Portal for whatever it was going to tell me.  And it did a lot of talking about the scan that happened Wednesday.  The Easter portal news is that all cancer related things seem to be pretty stable with even some slight improvement in one area. Ever so slight but that still is great news.  So. for now, I feel like the stone has been rolled away and new life is with me.  Thanks be to God.  So back to bed and I slept till 6.  I'll take it with Thanksgiving.  Breakfast came and the clock proved it was time to leave for Church to get a jump on Easter visuals before the crew arrived.                 New members Hannah and Andrew working in the chapel with the lamb and...

 Back home again in Indiana.  That's where we were arriving late afternoon yesterday after a wonderful time with Jared, Kimmy and the grandsons adding Kimmy's many relatives to our visit.  It was just what I needed.                                                         Happy times but good grief.  What's with the hair, girl?      We arrived late at the Jared/Kimmy Russell home Thursday afternoon again rediscovering family again along with many free-range chickens, three cats, joe, the horse, three ducks four ewes and Eli's sheep for this year's 4-H entry.  Numerous goldfish would join us later in the week.       This is Eli's friend Hope holding renamed Barb because her nest was found hidden in the rhubarb.             ...

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...
