Amazing Saturday

For many reasons it has been an amazing day.  One to remember as long as memory allows me.

Once again sleep did not stick with me, so I was once again out of bed around 1 last night.  I thought of checking the IU Portal for whatever it was going to tell me.  And it did a lot of talking about the scan that happened Wednesday.  The Easter portal news is that all cancer related things seem to be pretty stable with even some slight improvement in one area. Ever so slight but that still is great news.  So. for now, I feel like the stone has been rolled away and new life is with me.  Thanks be to God.

So back to bed and I slept till 6.  I'll take it with Thanksgiving.  Breakfast came and the clock proved it was time to leave for Church to get a jump on Easter visuals before the crew arrived.

New members Hannah and Andrew working in the chapel with the lamb and Christ Candle.

It was a morning of heavy, heavy rain with the big Carmel Marathon canceled. The closer I got to church I realize the stop and go lights were not working.  Arrival came with no one there to open the door, so I waited and at some point, called Darren who does not live far from the church.  Eventually he opened the door with the realization that the electricity was gone.  We started working in the dark for a while with I phone flashlights till we could see again with lightbulbs aglow. We did not wait for the storm to pass.

Flowers on the altar will be given to those visiting with family or friends or just visiting. The altar cloth has many symbols of Old Testament stories embroidered on the "dew drops from heaven.                                                      Made by my mentor Doris Douglas.

We all got busy and by 12 finished with a final walk through knowing that visually what was ours to do was in the can.

Kathy O did her magic with silk flowers.  A wonderful new "thing" in the west entrance.                                                     Keep it fresh are the words that sing in my head.                                                         The love and mirrored musical banner are just one of many also created by Doris and used for many years in many places in the church. This year six are hung in the sanctuary with a total of five hung in the west entrance.

`Another Thanks be to God for the energy to carry on.

Sue always makes these available honoring her late husband, Frank.  Both long time members.                   The flowers will be distributed Monday to those needing a special gift while hospitalized.

The afternoon had a variety of things happening.  The Pacers beat the Bucks...BIG TIME.  Now we need to do it again and again.  Is it five or seven times before they take the next step up.  I'm not sure.

I called Eric and Jared to share the latest Portal news. They were thrilled.  I understand and also thrilled.

Neighbor Bill made some wonderful rhubarb cake.  I walked over to their house, sharing my good news and then celebrating by eating wonderful rhubarb cake.  It was really yummy.  Yikes...full of sugar for sure.  That is what rhubarb needs. Oh, well, stuff happens.

Eric stopped over to get the knee scooter for Kat.  She wants to go to church tomorrow, and the scooter is a better option than crutches.  Healing and pain are a part of her life for a time. Life is not...

I spent a lot of time going over the portal report I printed last night. Because I couldn't find my reading glasses, I bought some new ones when coming home from church. I needed google beside me to flush out all the medical terms.  Every other word seems to be one of those.  I want to know what and where cancer is as best as possible. The more one knows the less one needs to fear is my motto.

Then there was the Denver/LA game.  Games will go on for a while.  I call it a good distraction from other TV happening. There might be one more game tonight if I recall correctly.  Don't count on that. Sometimes it is not correctly that happens.

I walked the exciting garden that is just exploding from the dirt.  Jack in the pulpit has a bran new pulpit.  Must be Easter.

Another beautiful day starting at 1 AM. Then came the 8:30 AM hour being a bit off kelter.  We got it going eventually after threatening Darren with having perhaps a Good Friday look of black Easter while waiting in the car with a storm raging.  Life has its ups and downs that remind me often of something I read at the first meeting with my first cancer doctor who led me to the right doctors leading this particular journey.

So, a big thank you to those who read through my life each day or every other day or at your choosing.  Life is good.  God is good and your good makes my good come true. Wishing you a good Easter Day and may God bless you on your journey. So many good Easter songs are playing in my head today.  It will continue through the coming weeks.

  1. Ineed God is good! I chanted the Exultet at our Vigil this morning - and I thought of your news as I sang about his gifts given on this night. Alleluia!
