Monday
Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.
The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful.
And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning. Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died. Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word. Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things. Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us. His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.
After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus blooming. It reminded me that better days are ahead although today was cold and dreary. Saying goodby to loved ones is difficult. It comes because that loved one brought joy. That was Wyatt. The Michigan Russell's suspect Addison's Disease. There was the inability to walk Sunday evening along with no attempt to eat.
Since the morning proved to be heavy, diversion was needed and there was work waiting at church. So south I went with gold sticks and pinecones to make some changes to the chancel area at church. The gold was added to the red berries and the altar banner was changed to a dark green with many gold crosses of many sizes made with gold ribbon. And once again the camera didn't make it out of the house with me.
Nap time. No one ever had a lap big enough for Wyatt, so he just took the whole body.Back home again only to discover that we'll be scheduling another workday this week getting the chapel ready for the three services held on Ash Wednesday March 5th There will be another workday March 3rd preparing the sanctuary for the season of Lent using a lot of purple.
By far the best camper. Always alert, probably watching another dog pass by our site.I spent time lacing and braiding today. The knitting needles were clicking. I raked off half of one of the flowerbeds that was neglected last fall, looking for more crocus. They are there but not quite ready to bloom.
Reading the paper at our house. Yup...it's that morning pop tart time. Sneaky little guy we all loved.By now you will all know that Wyatt was a part of who we are. And we will continue to love him just as we always have. Rest in Peace, dear puppy. You gave us more than we could ever ask for. Today, I'm blessing you with tears.
