An Inside Day.

 And the reason.  RAIN.  My goodness, what a gift.  And along with the rain gift came moderating temperatures.  So my friends received their gift of a drink and all is well in the garden...or maybe even better than well.  There is nothing quite like a rain water drink. 

                            I've never known a Fusia who died from overwatering.                                                                                                                      I guess it could happen but not on my watch.

We found this sort of big branch down in the front yard.  Doug spent some time getting that chopped up and in the garbage can.  

                     This branch is from a Honey Locus tree that Doug's father started from a seed.                                                                                  It's as tall as a Cottonwood today.

I staked some plants that had difficulty finding their center.  That is a common event this time each summer.  I know how they feel. Sometimes the center just isn't where I think it is. 

            Happy zinnias getting help when their foundation are a bit unfoundational because of rain. 

The huge entertainment of the day was the news the Michigan Russells were having a HUGE TALL BIG Colossal Gigantic Cottonwood tree taken down.  So pictures arrived and we saw an almost minute-by-minute event with a successful take ending with the tree in the correct place on the ground.  There are at least three more Cottonwoods to go with more successful takedowns.  That will happen later.  Jared has done many take-downs in past years but these identified Cottonwood trees are close to wires or the house.  So this needed a call to the professionals.  The four Russell men will have their hands full cutting up all the wood. One of the cuts in the trunk resulted in water spewing out of the cut.  No wonder there is a drought.  Cottonwoods seem to be hoarders of water, looking after themselves first.   

The rest of the day was a snoozer with a little more rain.  Nothing much of any account but every little bit of rain helps.. Yes. other than rain, a little snoozer.   Not a bad way to end the weekday.  There will be more walks to see if anyone else needs a prop-up to locate their center.
