The Fourth!
A day centered with celebrations of many kinds. But a day that marks a difference for many folks. It's a mixed bag of emotions that seems to come along all too often.
So for the Russells, another day of quiet. Doug made his wants known soon after we were married that his celebration on any holiday would be a quiet one and that has been a part of what the Russells do. Stay off the road, out of traffic, away from crowds. That makes for slow and easy celebration day.
Two pictures of a beautiful deep orange.
I decided a few days ago that hot dogs would be roasted over a fire along with chips, baked beans, and ice tea. That happened, the dogs were deliciously roasted to a done look that tasted the best ever. We could have done marshmallows but we'll leave that to vacation time.
A bit of watering the garden happened early in the day and there will be a walk around before it get's dark. Rain has been gone now for three weeks. The prospects for some soon just are not apparent.
Becky Daisys, Hostas, and Oats Grass make for a pretty combination.Tomorrow brings a visit with my radiation doctor, Dr. Langer. I think it is a keep in touch visit. Those happen every six months for a few more years. Visits like these bring back memories of where I was and where I am now. At times it feels like light years gone and at other times it just happened. I'd rather not think about it if truth be known. Those were hard times making sure my mind was in the place of healing. I learned to keep it in the present moment.
Yummy! Yes, those hot dogs look delicious! Just right! Do them again in Michigan with the marshmallows!
