Crazy Work Day Wednesday.

Up early and all the early stuff finished in good time.

It was off to church to meet Heidi at 9:30.  Debbie was also there and filled a well-needed place on the work team.. At one point the major work day was Wed. but because of conflicts, we moved it to Thurs.  Debbie didn't get the memo.  Thank goodness.  We kept her busy all morning. She was fascinated with all that she called the work behind the scenes.  There were conversations with Darren, developing new practices of communion, filling in what happens in the coming Sunday's services and more.  Just a little snap shot into what makes Sundays work at North.

The first thing we tackled was the coming Sunday's visuals supporting the Baptism of our Lord.  Heidi had seen something and we modified it and now it's waiting in the chancel area for Sunday.

T
The white net-like ribbon is really sparkling silver.  The blue fabric symbolizes our Lord's river baptism. The dove reminds us of the message This is my Beloved Son.  The fabric lands in a huge baptismal bowl and spills onto the floor.

Then we moved on to the altar area using some visuals that have been used before.  The pulpit insert filled with many shells, a symbol of baptism is surrounded with the chiro, a large p with a cross.  The monagram for Jesus.  .

The Baptismal Font was moved to the center of the chancel area in front of the pulpit.

To the right of the altar is the banner used most often at baptism time.  A child hand in the hand of the Father.  The trinity symbol and four Jerusleum Crosses are at the bottom along with a blue fringe often found at the hem of those teaching in Jesus' day.  The banner is done in shades of blue.  That color symbolizes love.

Other work completed this morning should make tomorrow's work day easier.  We'll know the truth tomorrow!!!! Tomorrow our main goal is to pack away the nativities.  Carts have been stashed with materials needed for that task.  New banners were also place where they will  be hung tomorrow.  There is so much more to do storing away and pulling out to enhance the learning environment.

The rest of the day was spent with my feet up fascinated once again with Washington. The last trip to the grocery before the weekend was postponed although I really was flat out of milk needed for breakfast.

It was a great day of work allowing us to move on to the next season of the church year.  A great feeling of accomplishment working with two dear church friends.  Heidi and Debbie as well as a mid-morning time when the staff was with us.
