Friday

 The last day of the work week unless you are not counting that tomorrow is Bread and Bowl morning.  That's work heading my way tomorrow.  

Today it was an easy again Crossword but impossible for me wordle.  I flunked.  Tomorrow is another day!  I had the chocolate chip cookies out of the oven in time for Doug's breakfast.  One pan was a little too brown on the bottom.  Those were his and the rest for the grandsons.  Well, some of them.  


Then it was time to start on the stole.  Today was the finish day.  There were lots of parts to do and I had trouble with a few but with patience again the problems were solved.  The stole is finished and goes to church with me tomorrow waiting for Darren in his mailbox.  The first part of the process of stole-making is always slow.  The last part is not so slow and this time would have been faster had I did not have some difficulty.  Something to remember when the next one is in process.  Always learning.  I have made a stole for a number of ministers. A guess is close to 7.

                        Finally, Darren has an all-purple stole to wear during the season of Lent.  

At 12 o 'clock Doug asked me if we were supposed to get the kids.  YES.  I totally forgot with my mind in the stole.  So off we went with bags of cookies on the back seats waiting for the kids with the hope that being late would be forgiven.  And all was forgiven.  

 With more hours on the needle, while watching more ball, the stole was completed!!!!  

There was really some very good basketball while I stitched along with texting from my Ohio friend Nancy Baxter.   The Purdue game made her nervous. And the Spartans lost.  Ohio State beat them.  

We finished off the last of the soup, got the dishes washed and the evening saw more ball and more lacing on the braided rug.  Another day of making a difference.  I met my goal. 

The evening game with I U and Maryland with I U behind told me to go to bed.  And I U won as the game wound down!  I should have known. Oh, yee of little faith!

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...

 This morning...nothing different.  Cards and Pancakes with no rain and none promised.  That could change but so what.  A little rain never has stopped us from doing.   The first big bottle of syrup and the first bag of pancake mix is gone but there is more stashed away.  We never run out of breakfast fixings.  The second book is well on the way. I think it's the same for Doug.  I spent the afternoon with Natasha sitting on the deck and visiting with her mother Dorthy.  She is a great storyteller.  Natasha's dad is our potter friend Dennis.  Natasha is also a potter among many other things.  This is a picture of the shop.  A large deck behind the deck is a sweet place to visit and make new friends.   Today our church friends Jeanie and Neal arrived.  They will be here for 3 nights.  We'll do a little visiting later around the Jared Russell campfire giving them some ideas of what they might like to ...

 It's 7 PM and 66 degrees maybe with a breeze off the lake.  Changed to long pants and a better jacket.  It's cloudy right now with a chance of rain tonight.  Most rains are not predicted so it's maybe yes and maybe no.  So what was today like.  Check what was posted for yesterday with  kayaking deleted. Read, slept, walked and played cards once again.  We had icecream at the Fort Store.  That was a first.   We played a couple of games of Kubb.  It's a great yard game that one can become proficient in quickly.  The WiFi is really slow for picture up loads so one will need to do.   Tonight the JB family will begin packing for home.  The camp kitchen will come down and tomorrow morning the tent will be next.  The hope is that they will leave the campground no later than 10 after their last pancake breakfast at our dining fly.  It's always a sad time but the plan is to do this all over again next year...
