Sunday

 The morning started with this outside the window.  

My Nancy friend said that Kentuckians say that jonquils need three snow storms before spring is permanent.  This is the first one but we're not Kentuckians.  Hoosiers don't need more than one.

        Lenten Roses.  By the afternoon both of these flowers acted like there never had been snow.                                                         I love the antifreeze running through their vains. 

Slow easy morning.  Just as it should be.  Off to church with a cruise through the book fair held in the community room.  There were a nice collection of books to look through.  Not too many and not too few. Some years it can be quite large and almost overwhelming.  

Darren chose to wear the new stole which really looked quite fine at the pulpit.  I was surprised at how well the quiet purple showed through.  Darren pronounced it a good fit for the season.  I am honored to know that because Darren is very careful about what he wears.  

We were home for lunch and then I made a trip to the Schilling household to visit with Dirk from California and Peter and Thomas now living in Delphi Indiana along with Rita and Bob getting ready for a move to Rita's daughter's carriage house in the Nora area.  It was fun reconnecting.  Years ago we took the kids to church since Bob needed to leave early to play the organ at both services. 

The afternoon entertainment with Purdue and Penn State was maddening near the end of the game so I just excused myself from the room for a while.  Purdue closed out the Big 10 and now on to the NCAA.  I chose to clean the bird feeders letting the guys play on!  Such a whimp.

                                            There was no sun to brighten up the picture.  

                                        The bluebirds are around morning, noon and night.                                                          Meal worms are their favorite along with that being the same for the Starlings.  Bummer. 

Tomorrow I'm meeting Darren to talk about Palm/Passion Sunday service along with Holy Week and Easter.  Those all involve visuals.  I need to be ready!

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...

 This morning...nothing different.  Cards and Pancakes with no rain and none promised.  That could change but so what.  A little rain never has stopped us from doing.   The first big bottle of syrup and the first bag of pancake mix is gone but there is more stashed away.  We never run out of breakfast fixings.  The second book is well on the way. I think it's the same for Doug.  I spent the afternoon with Natasha sitting on the deck and visiting with her mother Dorthy.  She is a great storyteller.  Natasha's dad is our potter friend Dennis.  Natasha is also a potter among many other things.  This is a picture of the shop.  A large deck behind the deck is a sweet place to visit and make new friends.   Today our church friends Jeanie and Neal arrived.  They will be here for 3 nights.  We'll do a little visiting later around the Jared Russell campfire giving them some ideas of what they might like to ...

 It's 7 PM and 66 degrees maybe with a breeze off the lake.  Changed to long pants and a better jacket.  It's cloudy right now with a chance of rain tonight.  Most rains are not predicted so it's maybe yes and maybe no.  So what was today like.  Check what was posted for yesterday with  kayaking deleted. Read, slept, walked and played cards once again.  We had icecream at the Fort Store.  That was a first.   We played a couple of games of Kubb.  It's a great yard game that one can become proficient in quickly.  The WiFi is really slow for picture up loads so one will need to do.   Tonight the JB family will begin packing for home.  The camp kitchen will come down and tomorrow morning the tent will be next.  The hope is that they will leave the campground no later than 10 after their last pancake breakfast at our dining fly.  It's always a sad time but the plan is to do this all over again next year...
