Wednesday

Are you all wondering what happened today?  Easy answer...the same as yesterday.  Yes, two days of work at North.

Poinsettia for the altar.  The hope is these will stay fresh enough for the first two Sundays of Advent.

All of the home morning stuff was finished and I met Heidi at church at our usual time, 9:30.  This was the walk-through morning checking on everything more than once to see what needed another go at being perfect.  Well as near perfect as we could get.  That continued on till we left at 1:30.  Of course there were a few folks walking through from Shepherd Center and we stopped to talk.  And then the question was what needed to be moved to a better place for a few things.  We straightened some banner poles. Filled empty spots.  Hung more roping and bows outdoors. We added a few things to the west side entrance.  The space is ready for Saturday's Landmark event when many folks will enter the church as part of a four church tour. We are expecting many many folks. Advent and the season of waiting and preparing can begin.

Doors on the southeast corner of the church received an embellishment of roping and bows. We didn't forget the bell tower entrance either.

This is a Doris Douglas Advent with all of her banners made for the season hung in many places.  This morning's sun through the south windows of the sanctuary brought life to the space.  It was an overcoming experience with banners shining with all the embellishments that Doris could think of to use. The angels and musical banners appeared to be extraordinary.  Photos don't do justice to what one sees with eyes in that sanctuary space.

Just a few of the 250 nativity sets found around the church.

It takes a village to unpack and display all the nativities.

Once again it was a morning of worshipful experience.  I picked up two poinsettias for the altar this afternoon and will deliver them tomorrow morning.  I'm sure there will be more pictures.

An altar hanging with many drops filled with story reminders from the Old and New Testaments. This altarpiece is found in the chapel this Advent season.

Another gift from Doris.  We are more than blessed. This banner is one of two banners used together.  The word Emmanual is splashed across the companion banner. The two banners are hung in the Chapel.

The week of work has created wonderful memories.  The church working together to make this year's visual part of Advent alive is one of those.  The memories of years working with Doris, a friend in so many ways bring more. I have been blessed again and again. Being involved will do that.  So once again we celebrate the birth of the one who came to save.
