Friday

Two more sleeps and we're off to the north woods.  We always counted sleeps when the boys were little.  And now we still do for the old folks.  So, this morning another wonderful time with the birds, sunshine and the stillness that a new day brings.  It was another snipping morning filling the cart with throw away stuff whose absence made the garden breath again with more space.  It's a wonderful time alone with nature.

                                                            Wonderful eye candy.

I did some fluffing the dirt and feeding the kindergarten Benary.  I'm expecting some growing to happen while we're gone.  And they heard me.

This should be another great collection of flowers when they bloom later this year.

More zinnias found their way into vases which will go with us.  And more flowers will be cut tomorrow for the altar vases Sunday.  Cutting stimulates growth.  Everything will have time to grow buds and bloom as we once again have garden time in August.  I'm meeting Heidi tomorrow to put the flowers together for Sunday.

This little flower was purchased at the Blind School yearly plant sale last year.                                                         So, it's a first-time bloomer.  The leaves look like Iris leaves.

The night was a short one and that meant there was a point I couldn't stay awake after lunch.  Woo...I like my naps.  We made a trip to return books to the library.  I'll take two books camping that belong to me.  The battery shop got a visit for hearing aide batteries.  I think we're all set.

Clothes are ready.  Easy, easy when I only need to think about me.

More essential things were packed like my bed stuff.  Doug needs to do that at some point.  He's a ground sleeper.  I don't know how he does that but he does.

What we'll eat and where I sleep.  There is nothing more important than those two items.

Today, Eli Russell sent me a boat load of pictures.  So far he has melted alumium, brass, copper and silver.  This is the beginning of an interesting hobby.

Patty got a huge thank you and we'll be eating complements of her again for supper.  It is close to being on vacation already.

This afternoon I learned that the bone biopsy will be Aug 16th at Methodist Hospital.  That was the preferred hospital for this procedure. I'm in the waiting line for the next chapter in the book of health. I'm in good hands.  I suspect a rather long process but those date always roll around and show up.  Some faster than others but they always arrive.

Two more sleeps.  The current plan is to leave the computer at home.  Things are very S   L   O   W at Copper Harbor with entries sometimes taking an hr. or so to move it on to you.  Loading pictures is a huge pain.  Tomorrow afternoon we'll pack the car and then Sunday morning we'll be on the road to Green Bay and then Monday on to Copper Harbor.  We'll be back in Carmel the beginning of August.

  1. I was just asking the boys today how many sleeps it was til they leave for Copper Harbor. That was always so cute and such a great memory when they were young.
