Sunday

It was a slow wake up.  An explanation...I woke up around 6 as usual, dressed for church, ate breakfast and then watched a bit of TV with my eyes closed until it was almost time to leave for church.  Woo...A break and then a big sleep and then time to head south.

I love Sundays.  Having been a member at North for 57 years is such a plus.  The children sang and I knew all of their moms and dads.  One of the dads having sung in the children's choir when he was 5 years old.  I love that kind of family history one can experience in that sort of setting.  My friend Logan was in the group.  The children sang This Train is Bound for Glory and Anna blew a train whistle at the beginning and end of the song. I knew Anna's great grandmother when she attended church.

This picture was taken during their rehearsal.  Two more children were added to the group.  Anna is tooting on her train whistle.  Their red robes were made by the church ladies at least 70 years ago in cotton fabric that wears like something made for the army.

I never have enough time to talk to everyone, but I do my best to get around as far as I can.  So many couples our age have been North members for many years.  Knowing the ups and downs of so many people for so many years certainly has developed community. I've discovered that being willing to share health concerns has brought us all closer.  We are truly a church family.

Darrens last sermon in the series he calls St. Paul's Greatest Hits emphasized embrace daringly,  Philemon 1-16.  A letter from Paul while in prison.  Another good morning at church with stimulating words suggesting new approaches to living the Christian life.

Once again the sun did it's best job to turn the tree leaves into something spectular to enjoy on our ride two and from church.

This picture was taken from our bedroom window this afternoon.  We call this tree the Oehler tree that was planted 50 years ago taken from the Oehler woods.  Stunning isn't it.

Another Sunday lunch.  Doug usually has chicken nuggets but we mixed it up today with a little pizza.

Tonight is the big Trunk or Treat night at church with lots of trunks full of candy and then serving 500 hotdogs with potato chips.  The dogs are always gone with a way guaranteed that prove no one got more than 1 hotdog.  It's a huge neighborhood party that North has done for a number of years. I would like to be there, but the better plan is not to be there.  Bummer but I can live with it.

Kat ordered the candles with my hope they will come before next Sunday.  We need two for all Saints Sunday celebration. We'll use more during Holy Week.  Eric stopped in for a little sewing project.  Kat bought a new Halloween shirt, and the sleeve wasn't sewn correctly.  So, we got that corrected.

Back to white thread this week.  I need to start thinking seriously about BURPS!  If I sewed everything that's ready to be sewn, there would be another 80.  I sort of sluffed off last week.

The Colts had what I call a by the skin of their teeth loss today.  There will be more football tonight.  Tomorrow I'll see Dr. Baker with a talk about Monjara.  Tues will be an All Saints DAY work morning at church. Wednesday brings the once a month, two shots at I U North and Lord only knows what else will be happening.  The weather continues to be more than the best ever. The colors are almost blowing my mind away.

This was last week's haul. Doug carried today's cats. There were at least four times more than I had.

We finished the busy work by cutting many, many more cattails for Patty.  It looked like an elephant had been stomping the grounds big time.  I've heard about the damage they can do. Since there are no loose elephants in Indiana that I know of, I'll admit that I made that mess.  There is nothing quite like snipping and clipping in a field of cattails.  You should try it.
