Thursday

The last rose of summer and fall.  This rose is one that we moved to this house 50 years ago.                                                             Doug rooted it even longer ago than that.
There was an early morning wake up, but I just stayed in bed till 6.  I checked to see if there was any new news.  Nothing new is the answer I determined.  The scales told me that I'm still dropping weight, but I hope that will change next week when Monjara has a chance to leave my system.  I had breakfast and then it was sewing machine time.  Sewing burps is a wonderful way to just lose my mind in fabric, thread and needle.  I finished 10 more.  I texted Ginni with the hope I can drop 100 off at church again this weekend.

I told Doug I thought the candy supply had dwindled.  With the weather being decent I think we should have a good number of kids. This is really a Doug event.  He's the candy man. The neighborhood is changing again with new families moving in.  There are kids near by again.  Well, babies I should say.

When Doug had finished breakfast, the paper and his time with the computer, I suggested that it might be a good thing to hit the Goodwill on Michigan Road.  It's a big one that has a good number of people passing through daily.  Those stores always have a better chance of flannel sheets being available.

Isn't this just the cutest burp cloth.

So off we went to Goodwill.  And there were flannel sheets waiting for us.  I bought four in the five-dollar range each leaving a 10.00 one, all white and probably a king size to boot.  I have enough for a while.  I'm waiting for Ginnie to tell me...ENOUGH!  Three of the sheets were fitted sheets so the elastic is gone now, and I think the fabric is about ready for the next step. Then there was a candy stop so our supply should be a good one for tonight. Kathy was looking for red pants and there were some hanging in the children's department.  She is going to check it out.  Grandson Charlie thinks he needs some red pants.  For 1.99 why not buy, buy, buy.

Another stash of Goodwill flannel and fleece ready to play with.

Lunch was a little jello and cottage cheese.  The effects of the shots seem to be appetite quenchers. I'm still aching but I think that should disappear soon.

The new candles are here for the Sunday service.  How easy can that be. No walking and shopping.  Just order and they are delivered at the front door.  I can check that off the to do list.

I love the warmth of these candles that usually doesn't come when they are stark white.                                                                              We have 12 new ones.

The afternoon was a bit dark and dreary.  I'd say it is a sure thing the seasons are changing.  This weekend will bring the changing of the clocks again.  November is tomorrow.

We had a meat pie for supper.  Well, Doug did.  I had the rest of the stuffed pepper we had last night for supper.  Doug is armed with candy waiting at the door.  I certainly hope he's not disappointed.  Happy Halloween folks.  Send your left-over candy to North's soup kitchen.  The guys love it.
