I call today a Katchup Day.  I needed more sleep and sitting time.  Yesterday's nativity work was perhaps a bit much.  There was a great sleep last night and it happened all over again this morning and this afternoon.  So there is not very much to show for the day.  And what did happen had everything to do with Georgia.   This afternoon Doug had an iron blood shot appointment, so I took him and then did a Meijer's stop, a library stop and a Kroger stop while he was at I U North.  That took care of the last to do list for the day.  I said hello to the ladies that work in the IU North Center when Doug was finished, reminding them to expect me in on the 2nd and 4th of December.  In the meantime...Georgia, here we come.                                 Three hand dug small lakes provided the first water on the monastery grounds.  I a...

Sunday

A great day because of many things.                  The uber team that carried the wisemen as Patience B. interpreted.  Sounds like a fun trip? The morning was filled with Gospel music, The two choirs, many in number including First Baptist Church's singers were accompanied with piano, organ and a few other musical instruments.  Mark and Steve do a wonderful job of putting together a service and Darren's sermon was right on.  It was pledge/finance Sunday, and one well received.   After the service, parishioners got right at pulling out nativity sets again filling knucks and crannies with reminders of the birth of Jesus.  There are many sets displayed again.  The word we heard today was that parishioners wanted to see all of them.  Well, I don't know if it's all, but I do know there are a whole lot.                     ...

Today I could call simple.  Nothing complicated.  Easy Peasy.  Add any other words that comes to your mind to explain what I'm trying to explain... My brain has been emptied.  Today was Soup Kitchen or Bread and Bowl Day. Call it what you want! I don't know why I use those words to identify this mission to the community today because soup has been gone for a long time.  Titles just stick at North for many unknown reasons.  The parlor in my mind is the parlor except it's been renamed the Gathering Place.  Fellowship Hall probably has had that name since 1931.  Thank goodness.  The game room at one time had a shuffleboard on the floor.  That's been long gone but the name still is the same.  I could go on and on adding the Pie room where no pies have been for at least 60 years. Many of us know where all these rooms can be found, regardless.  We were busy with a lot of good workers, but our crowd could have been bigger. It mi...

This week of five days is almost gone again.  That seems to happen every week.  Did you notice?  Just testing your cognitive thinking skills.  Let me know if I am giving the wrong test.   I spent the morning again at the machine.  It seems to be working at its peak performance in my mind but I'm sure the January fix up will make a change.  There are 10 more burps to add to the 70. It won't be long before there is another hundred.                                                                             Crazy pattern, but I made it work.   The last stop at the library included a look at some sewing books. There sure are some cute hats for 2 year olds.  Something to think about doing with all the fleece han...

It would seem that winter has come not as a wimp but a tough guy to be respected.  My early morning eyes told me that there was white stuff everywhere and it wasn't mana from heaven.  Should I say it was snow from heaven?  Well, at least was from the sky.   I decided that retrieving the paper from the driveway was going to be a Doug job for this morning.  I'll use the good excuse of not wanting to fall.  Humm...I don't want Doug to fall either.  But I persevered.  It was easy.  I fed the birds and did a whole lot of waiting until one Downy showed up.                                                  The woodpecker, looking at us, is on the left but hard to see.                                ...

Today was a pretty easy day.  Nothing doing outside in the garden for me.  The cooler air seems to aggravate a little asthma.  So, it was a mostly inside day.  Maybe I had a little extra sense and used it.  Snow has been predicted for Thursday.  Big bummer since I have a still beautiful patio pot that will probably be gone.   For most of the morning one could find me at the sewing machine futzing again with burps.  The machine needed a little futzing also.  Sometime the devil is living there.  But I figured out how to say some eviction charms and that was the end of the bad guy with the bad stuff.   I finished what was started and made 15 new burps.  This afternoon I realized that the stash of flannel was almost depleted.  Doug took me up on the suggestion of visiting a couple of Goodwills.  We stopped for gas and headed to the Goodwill just east of Castleton Square.  And sure enough, once again t...

``                  A fresh bunch of color for your enjoyment and reminding me of last evenings sun set.                                                              Many sunset pictures were posted by friends on Facebook.  Another not so pokey day.  I'm ready for a change.  At 6:30 pm the chair is my nest.   It all started at the sewing machine finishing burps I started a few days ago.   Then today was identified as turkey day.  It was time to roast the bird.  It was in the oven a little after 8.  All 18 lbs. of turkey.  And Turkey was finished close to 1 pm.  I rested the turkey and Doug got busy with his six knives around 2:30. No need to hurry that procedure since the turkey was destin...

Today was NOT one of those pokey days.  Pokey passed me by.  I did some sewing and then I was off to church to meet Heidi to get a jump on visuals for Advent.  You know me...plan ahead and be happy when the gang gets there. Panic is not good.  And I mentioned that when I'm charting a new path, it has a better chance to succeed when all is quiet.  Today there was some charting to do.  Ten o'clock was the starting time and we left church at 2.  Yes, a lot happened.   We worked on the new nativity set, placing the driftwood as well as succulents and then all the fun fantastical pieces of the Patience Bruster nativity set.                                                         Did you notice that the camel is wearing shoes?            ...
