Sunday
A great day because of many things.
The uber team that carried the wisemen as Patience B. interpreted. Sounds like a fun trip?
The morning was filled with Gospel music, The two choirs, many in number including First Baptist Church's singers were accompanied with piano, organ and a few other musical instruments. Mark and Steve do a wonderful job of putting together a service and Darren's sermon was right on. It was pledge/finance Sunday, and one well received.
After the service, parishioners got right at pulling out nativity sets again filling knucks and crannies with reminders of the birth of Jesus. There are many sets displayed again. The word we heard today was that parishioners wanted to see all of them. Well, I don't know if it's all, but I do know there are a whole lot.
One of many through out the church.Today, banners were hung, and more decisions were made about finishing the work on December 3rd. We're almost ready for the first Sunday of Advent. That is after the altar is stripped of the Thanksgiving arrangement after the Wednesday evening Indianapolis Children's Choir Thanksgiving musical service.
The church is closed Thursday and Friday and Heidi will place the Advent candles Saturday November 30 ready for the December 1st service. Planning ahead is the only way this all can happen. It's CALENDAR TIME!
A picture from 2023. The banner named the stump of Jesse will once again be on the pulpit with the blue advent candles on either side. The nativity set will be elsewhere. We have many options for keeping the story fresh each season. We are blessed. Then it was back home to observe another football Sunday after a short stop to visit with Rita and Bob. And yes, the Colts lost to the mighty Lions. I'm not surprised. I heard someone say the Lions would go to the Super Bowl back at the beginning of the season. It seems they are on their way.
I enjoyed the rest of the day with just being quiet, anticipating that tomorrow will be busy packing away things to begin our trip to Georgia on Tuesday with the annual family Thanksgiving at the Monastery. Pray that all will go well. The whole lot of Russell brothers are getting older, and this could be our last trip to the Monastery. Changes come even when one doesn't want them.
We'll return on Sunday December 1 ready to meet doctors, church follow up work and then the long-anticipated Pet Scan on Wednesday. I should hear what's happening to the inside of me after a visit with Dr. Schneider. That visit still to be scheduled. Yes, some changes have arrived already with more in store. Living brings them close.
Blog post during the coming week? Maybe, perhaps, we'll see, could be. The decision is not final, but I'll take the computer. I just don't know if I'll open it at the monastery.
I wish I could say I took many pictures this morning but once again I did not. Experiencing the service became the place I felt the best. I forgot about the camera.
