Saturday
I was up early. I have always been an early to rise from as long as I can remember. I watched a bit of the Pope's funeral. And then it was off to church again for the every other Saturday Soup Kitchen. Others were at church for the annual clean up the neighborhood event. It was an unexpectedly cold morning, so the numbers were smaller than usual.
I usually have at least 30 minutes by myself before more soup kitchen workers arrive giving me time to have a good look at what needs to happen or can happen to get the morning going for others. The main dish was wonderful, mashed potatoes, chicken and a great green bean with carrots vegetable. It was a yummy eat in meal along with two take home meals. The food lasted to the end in both categories.
Heidi, James and I finished up visuals for tomorrow's service. More banners were hung in the west entrance. And the butterflies found a new place to hang. The two green tables were completed.
We fixed the chair. The preacher wasn't naughty. Fossils, Hunter's Point rocks and a garden gazing ball. Water, a plant, and a wreath of shells. It was a good morning for so many reasons. Good workers, good guests and enough for all. I often think of the feeding of the 5000 story. And I feel it happens for us again and again.
So, back home again for lunch and the usual nap thinking I can watch TV with my eyes closed and my brain asleep. I spent part of the afternoon at garden shops just looking to see what could be growing in the garden. And then instead of looking I bought a few things.
It's a start...Yikes. I call it a mental health exercise.I had to rescue a sage and rosemary plant from the watering lady. They both hate water, and she was soaking them. They asked to come home with me. I have a few possibilities for my spray guy disaster. One never has to many dianthus plants. Jared, in Mi. and friend Kathy in Carmel both reported today that Oriels were seen at their feeders. Now one of those orange birds need to find my feeder that's in plain sight. Friends have seen hummingbirds also. But, not at my feeder at this point.
This is the Carmel bird.
I managed to plant the Rosemary and Sage along with the flamingo pot. That pot sits in the shade all day so I transplanted Pansey's along with a couple of other things. Shade things for pots just doesn't include many flowers. I think it will be a work in progress.Gorgeous...Tomorow's altar flowers.
Wish we had been there. . . Saw you online. . .Exquisite Earth Day / Galloway flowers
