Monday
Another Monday. There have been many. I think I've had 1524 of them. Math wasn't my best subject, but I think that number is close to being correct. I am more than grateful. In another 13 days soon to be 87 with 52 Mondays in a year. Should I have added the 0 year? Yikes. There are many Mondays. Go figure yours.
There was breakfast and the garden walk and sure enough, sleep gave the embarrassed zinnias a gift. They look great although a day in the sun will have some affect. Tomorrow they should really feel good.
I did a bit of clipping this morning and found that yesterday and today's deer food resulted in 63 naked stems with not a day lily bloom left to show themselves to the world. Grr for sure.
I googled vinca this morning and those plants should be deer safe. Vinca has smelly flowers with thick leaves. Those are Googles words. Day lilies have neither. Vinca makes me very happy. I thought they might be a goner this morning.
I worked a bit on preparing the soil for planting new things and late afternoon or evening the hope is that the fence goes up, the rabbits move on, and the war is ended.
I was off to church to meet Heidi. She beat me to the job this time. The Gay Pride banners are stashed away till another June. Pentecost things came out and once again there is a new place for the old Pentecost theme. I love it when using what we have in a new way happens. We walked out of the church around 11:30.
Red is so good against the gray stone. More banners are hung on each side of the sanctuary. The panels in the choir loft are red and the pulpit banner is also red. The ministers are wearing red stoles. Two red banners are hung in the narthex. We're celebrating the fire at Pentecost.Heidi has a medical procedure tomorrow that should diagnose a medical problem. I wanted to spend more time with her taking her to some new places that could provide new things to think about. She is having a bunny problem right along with me. So off to Menards we went to find the miracle pellets suggested to me by the Lowes attendant. I think that's funny. We found them and we both bought a can. I'll let you know how it works.
Did you notice that cute little bunny on the can? Let's hope it stays there. Then we stopped at the Carmel Library. It's such a beautiful building and even in the summer many chairs and desks were occupied. We did a good walk through. She liked the library and I always feel blessed that it is available to so many people. It certainly is a gathering place.
No picture. I know you know what books look like. I should have taken some pictures of the library.
Then it was off to Rosies for another walk around. The weather was warm but not HOT! Heidi found a perennial flower to take home with her. I think she will be back with James. It's another one of those great gathering places.
All kinds of plants. I should have taken pictures.
Then it was on the road back to church for a car pickup allowing Heidi to be on her way home. It was a good long morning and early afternoon of visiting, exploring new things and thinking about rabbits.
It was time for a later than usual lunch and a nap, and both things happened you might have guessed.
I did some watering late afternoon and raked out a big bunch of Creeping Jenny. It's that time of year. Jenny thinks it's all about her and it really isn't. I wish someone could convince her to stay in her place.
There were more moving plants from sun to shade where needed including lots of watering. I hope the bunny doesn't find them. When sitting time has filled the energy tank again after supper, I hope to get busy on the chicken wire. The plants are waiting to spread their roots. And I suppose I could wait till morning. Who knows for sure!
That's it for today. There was a lot going on and I hung on tight. Tomorrow should be a day at home. I'm back on cancer medicine again. That pleases me for sure. I miss my funny pill friends, Larry, Curly and Mo. Get to work, boys. There is a lot of work to do.
I get 4524 for the Mondays of your life. I have 3952.
