Thursday

An unnamed butterfly seen this evening. The big guys are still around.

The morning came early but I stayed in bed till six.  No need to hurry the day.  But I did do a bit of that when I realized I needed to eat breakfast before seven given that order came from the Scan Guy.  That was one thing I had forgotten even after having a number of scans in the past.  So, out of bed and breakfast eaten as it should have been.
I cleaned the cage this afternoon and these are the chrysalis that will be wintered over till next spring. I'm not sure how this will work but it's worth a try.  One chrysalis left on the patio table connected to a rock was eaten by something.  This protector wasn't working.
The little black speck is a tiny swallowtail caterpillar about 1/2 inch long.                      Another I wonder how this is going to progress.

I watched the morning come via TV and then I moved to the sewing room.  The burps were there in pieces and I started the marking of all 60 want to be burps.  Then it was to the sewing machine, sewing 30,turning them and giving them a good iron pressing.  All of this filled the morning hours.  By 11:00 it was time to think Pet Scan and I was on my way making sure I wasn't late slowing the process.
Ornamental grass that has decided to bloom.  I think it's later this year.

While waiting to be called for scanning at IU North who should come down the hall but Sarah D. a very wonderful choir friend who works in the cancer area at I U North.  She is such a gem of a person with such great listening skills.  All of this happened while I was texting Kathy O. another good choir buddy who has pulled me through the muck on more than one occasion, that sometimes the mind creates.  So surrounded with friends one at I U North and one in Seattle for some reason by text, I was soon on my way to the Pet Scan area of the hospital.

There were diabetic numbers to collect and then the nuclear medicine arrived and was administered.  It took about 20 minutes as the medicine moved via the blood system looking for cancer. Then on to the scanner where contrast dye was administered and time spent in the tube taking a lot of pictures hunting the bad stuff. I was asked how many scans I've had.  I don't know for sure but think it's more than four.

All that is left of the maple tree once in our back yard. The cleome is removed.                              I'm so happy to add the flowers now able to receive the sun in that part of the garden is a big plus.

Often when Kimmy takes family pictures, she needs to remind me No Talking. My mouth is usually open with new pictures necessary. Before I left for the Pet Scan this morning, Doug reminded me "No talking while picture taking.  That was easy to remember since I was in the tube during picture time.  There was no one to have a conversation with. Anyway, they never take a picture of all of my face but they do get my mouth.  Funny Guy for sure.  Monday, I'm asking to see what a Pet Scan looks like to the doctor.

I took this picture.  It made me think of a Doug picture.                                                                            There is a tiny bug in the middle of the Morning Glory.                                                                         It looks like a baby stink bug. Doug takes pictures of a lot of bugs.

Then back home for a late lunch with the feeling that my body was a bit sluggish, more so than usual.  The sewing machine stayed turned off but I did pull out the garden cart and dead headed big zinnias and filled another bucket with soon to be seeds for next year.  Collecting seeds seems to be like eating ice cream but wanting more.  The air of the afternoon had a rain feel left over from last night.  That was a good thing.

Another screen full of flowers drying but filled with seeds.

I pulled some things out of the freezer and made an easy supper. I must admit it wasn't great!  I was going to suggest McDonalds but keeping it easy at home even sounded better.

So beautiful with such a great bold orange against the white dusty miller.                     Planted where there now is no shade. The low angle of the sun makes this picture even more interesting.

Tomorrow morning it's back to I U North at 7:30 for blood work.  The early hour says I'll have the results by 11.  That's what I'm aiming for.  Good numbers will get me back on cancer medicine just after a week off.  In past months I've had to wait through the second off week for that to happen.  So we'll see what tomorrow will bring. Whatever the results, I will follow the directive. It's called care of the body.  Tonight, I'm tired.  So, no more sewing, no more garden stuff, no walk around the block.  Just resting. Tomorrow I'll give it a go again.

  1. What?!? McDonald's and not Steak 'n' Shake? It is better that you ate at home!
