Saturday
I woke up with a lot to do today. So, after breakfast, there was time to sew. I finished some burps and started some other burps until it was time (8:00 am) to leave for Bread and Bowl.
We had a good working team and moved from one thing to another with no breaks until there was time to visit. The hole crew knows what needs to happen to make the morning a good one.
James is preparing garlic bread for folks to eat with their meal while in the community roomAnd where needed all are willing to step in and get all in place to make Bread and Bowl successful. Yes, and visit we did. Sarah Ellen's sister was here from Atlanta. Such a treat to see her again.
Meals ready for take out packed extra bread, deserts and whatever has been donated. The 11 o'clock hour was the busiest I'm seen ever. So, the rule was to keep one's head down and move from one thing to another as fast as possible. There was plenty to do. There were more than 20 folks waiting for the door to open and the folks just kept coming until the food was gone.
More options to choose from. Then more came. So, our next Saturday in two weeks will have 4 pans of food instead of 3 for carry out and 4 pans instead of 3 for eating in. Each pan has enough food for 18 servings. We certainly could have used 4 each today. Big groups tend to be a little messy and today was no exception. So, we cleaned and straightened preparing the space for tomorrow. One never is quite sure why the numbers are always unpredictable, but they are, Today, it could have been the cooler weather or the economy or both or something we hadn't thought about.
Time to visit which is one the must haves when working together. It makes the crew the crew. After all was put away and I was on the road, I stopped at Ginny's house to deliver her repaired pants. Then it was on to home where I had lunch and an afternoon that included some burp trimming and ironing work and just simple sitting among other things.
And today before I left church, Rosie was there practicing with her children's choir. This was gifted to me. And Yes. The sign is a good one I listen to all the time. There was time for the I U football game. Woo. It was fun to watch until I fell asleep like it was the middle of the night. Woo. I'm sure I U won because the score was a bit lopsided like last night's world series score with Toronto taking over the game. A two-hour sleep in the middle of the day is something new. But it happened.
I cleaned up the patio which looked like a party had taken place during the night. I've seen a deer at the neighbor's feeders in the middle of the day. The birdbath water was almost gone, and Safflower seeds were everywhere. Yup. A party and I wasn't invited. I'll give it one more try. Doug brings the suet in every night. We can add to that take in if necessary.
I'm going through my clothes to find warm stuff to ware for the neighborhood park party tonight. I don't plan to stay long but I'm willing to make an appearance. I'll be driving there with my lawn chair and CCC cookies.
Another good day with energy needed to be enough for the moment, with spaces for recuperation during the day. It's a little of doing and then not doing and doing it all over again. I'll take it.
