Monday

What a morning it has been.  I would say almost unbelievable.  But believable in my world.  I do get into things.  Yesterday's work pointed to this morning's time to finish all the visual arts details at North.  I expected just a tad bit of time but NO.  Four of us worked from 9:30 till almost 1.  The church in every nook and cranny of the main level is ready for the world to visually see Christmas.  We are open and ready.

I made an assessment. There seemed to be more nativities this year on display and discovered that really was true. About a month ago with the nativities stored in drawers I pulled drawers that I thought would give us a taste of Christmas.  Not all of them but some that the youth group would bring to the first level.  Now Grandson Noah is in the youth group.  I discovered that Noah was at the drawer site pulling all the drawers wanting them all displayed.  And we have emptied all the drawers!  That's why nativities are EVERYWHERE!  And more than once while working today I commented on seeing something I can't remember seeing.  What a treat to see something new and having a grandson like Noah leading the way.

Yes, once again we are ready.  The donkey has arrived; banners are in the chapel, narthex and sanctuary.  The Messiah banners are in the west entrance and both Moravian Stars are hung. And did you read that the NATIVITIES are EVERYWHERE! Thank you, Noah.  You are a grandson that lives in my heart for many reasons. More drawers pulled is another one.

Another event happening in December is a Landmarks meeting at church.  200 folks are expected to attend a meeting late afternoon and early evening of December 11th. Last December Landmarks included North in a tour of four older churches that have some historical interest. This happens every year with Indy buildings.  Last year it was our turn for the big tours. This year's, North visit is for members only. It's a unique experience to host this group. And...we are ready. They asked to see the church decorated.  Well, they will! It happens every year around Thanksgiving time.

We are hosting other week-day tours for community groups the three Thursdays in December. Reservations are needed.

So, the afternoon started with a Doug pickup.  It was off to IU North for his monthly iron shot.  Then I new batteried my watch.  Sometimes it just gets a little sluggish, forgets to turn on its light and tells me...new battery please. Back to IU for Doug. Then home for lunch which wasn't really lunch time but almost mid-afternoon.

There was a little knitting, supper, off to Broadripple to pick up Eric, home again with knitting and football.  Woo.  I'm tired but for a very good reason.  I know where my knees and hips are. Things could be much worse.

I loved the morning work, thinking on my feet, displaying some new things, displaying some old things in new ways, keeping up with what needed to be done and just being in a space I love dearly.  How fortunate hearing great preaching, wonderful enriching music and being with friends all of this for nearly 58 years.  How blessed I have been.  And the beat goes on. How can I keep from singing.

So much has happened these last two days.  I marked the day as Tuesday.  Oops.  It's Monday.
