Thursday
The day started really slowly, like slow motion. And it stayed slow for most of the day. I did an early spider web cleaning. This house always has a lot of them on Doug's level. That's the lower level and he just doesn't see them or perhaps not bothered with them. So, I did a quick do. I'm hoping he will clear his second room. But probably won't. Being married for 58 years to the same guy helps with predictability.
Then there was a slow start with knitting. That didn't go very far. There was bird watching. There weren't many birds. I think they are missing the big tree that came down last spring. They are not telling me that but I'm trying to do some bird thinking. Am I right? Who knows. I say I'm right because you don't know if I'm wrong.
Today was a Living Strong meeting at the Y. The results of this meeting was 1 1/2 hours of talking with friends about anything that wanted to be talked about. It was a good morning. I intended to do some machines but wasn't in the mood when the opportunity came. I said it was a slow morning, didn't I.
Now for some Thanksgiving weekend ideas for doing.
I learned that there is a free one day pass for company folks who would like to try the Y. I'm wondering if the grandsons would like that. On turkey day morning there is a crazy short Drumstick Race walking or running starting at 9 am at the old Broadripple H. S. with a lot of crazy fun costuming by a lot of runners and their watching friends. That sounds like a great race to watch or walk or run. We could do that. Another thing might be painting rocks with helpful words or/and pictures. The Schwarz Cancer Center has a place for them just outside the door available to people walking by needing a rock for the day. And there is always a card game marathon.
After the Y was over, I drove north to H. Lobby again for some yarn. I found that but then decided to look for roping for the east doors at church. The big Meridian Street Doors. After looking for a while for it in the attic at church the thought came...Yes, we did throw away old worn-out roping, probably 40 years old when we cleaned the attic room. So being at H Lobby I started looking and eventually I found roping. Now this was not the old 40 year kind but new roping that is really much nicer but so much more expensive. So, the usual amount of time was taken to decide that yes, the Visual Arts Fund money was available. Yes, buy it!!! It always takes a while to decide that spending is OK. I hate to spend "church" money but that is what the Visual Arts fund is for. So, we have something that looks better, will last longer and does what we want it to, telling those traveling by that we are preparing to celebrate the Advent Season and the birth of Jesus. I wouldn't be surprised to hear from the V A committee that we need another set of 4 ropes for the west entrance. The west side roping probably is 29 years old.
The afternoon was slow and easy. A little TV. A little knitting. A little napping. A little blogging. I bet you readers expected to hear that. It's been a gray day. For me, slow goes with most gray days unless something really grips me. I wonder if this gardener's genes are wanting this gardener to spend time outside but is so aware of what the day feels and looks like. Gray just doesn't cut it.
And the evening continued with playing with yarn. Now there are two scarves on two sets of needles. I discovered I had two needle sets the same size. So, the fun continues with being wrapped in my electric throw blanket purchased almost 5 years ago keeping me warm after my first surgery. Using that blanket is a wonderful memory of care and love that surrounded me. Gray isn't so very, very bad but it's still bad.
