Monday
Today had some rough edges and some smooth ones as well. Thank God for the smooth edges. I hate the rough ones. I had a wonderful night of sleep. Woo. Blessings on what ever made that happen.
Most of the morning was cozy and warm with the needles starting on another scarf with white yarn thinking I had enough. Well, I didn't so the scarf turned red and white after I was halfway to the end. It's an I U scarf now looking pretty good. Not quite finished yet but another half hour will see me adding it to the finished basket.
What really started to bug me was the fact every month like today I would be at I U North for a blood draw at 7:30 am. By 11:00 for sure I knew know the recovery rate of my White and Red Blood Cells. If the report was good, I could go back on my cancer med. immediately All of that flew out the window on to a big snow drift this morning.
The driveway was impassable. I called early for a snow removal. It happened around three. At some point I learned that I U North's blood labs were closed because of the weather. Another one was open, but was miles east. I talked to Eric. He was at work, but Hamilton County said they wanted no one driving today.
And as you all know...I want things to work and NOTHING I wanted working was working. I should have had a bottle of wine but that would have raised my sugar numbers. Low numbers are a priority as all diabetic folks know. So, there was an itchy scratchy part of today. Sort of like sitting on a cactus. Ouch. So am I happy the day is almost over...YOU BET. I will put this in the short-term memory brain bank. Short term is the first to go you know. That might be a gift.
I'll be on my way to IU North tomorrow at 7:10 am and then on to a PT session at 8:15. I'll have a new teacher. Michael and Daren are not available. My plan is that tomorrow will work without my help.
What happened for the rest of the day? Here's the scoop. I shoveled off the patio again. This time 3 inches of the white stuff. Feed the birds more than once. I decided I didn't want to see fussing Starlings for the rest of the winter or spring, so the little peanut acorn came inside. I'm going to stuff it with nesting material this spring. I heard that is not on the Starling menu.
The Starlings are still trying to get into the B Bird feeder and what I call the small guarded in the cage peanut holder. Both are pretty Starling safe for now. A pot of chicken veg. soup was made. And a favorite protein snack of roasted Garbanzo Beans happened. More protein drink spiked with blueberries was the afternoon drink.
The Pacers had a game tonight in Atlanta, but they played the game this afternoon. It was tooooo cold in Atlanta for a night game. Goodness me...tonight here will be past zero. Way past. But we are better prepared for cold. And the Pacers LOST again. The first half was wonderful. Not so wonderful was the second half.
In the afternoon this was a photo of a nice clean patio where a lot of black sunflower seed was eaten by the ground feeders. There was plenty for the Starlings. Just not to their liking so they were off somewhere else. Their pleasure is the expensive offerings on the menu. At one table are 6 Blue Birds against 6 tables seating at least 6 starlings. It's steak against hotdogs.Tonight, I'm tired. I think I spent to much energy on the scratchy things of the day. I just need to do a better job of giving scratchy up when I can't do a darn thing about the itch. I really tried to make the day work and think I have a pretty good track record of compliance since this cancer became part of my living. But stuff happens.
