Sunday

It was a blustery day as Winnie the Poo would say.  The night was a bit broken up with now and then a look out the window.  How far under the snow were we? Morning said we were under a lot with the promise there would be more coming our way.

                                                        Brr.  Have you no mercy?

So, it was the same old breakfast with a lot of station switching to hear what TV folks had to say about the weather.  There was nothing new to digest.  The old? Cold, Snow, Wind and the same thing all over again. I was happy ice didn't occur.  I imagine my southern family members in Tenn. Georgia and Texas did not dodge the ice.

The patio was shoveled more than once with snow piled alongside.                                                                                          A cleared patio is not lasting today.

I picked up my knitting traveling on the downward side to finish another scarf.  Then another one was started.  A look out the kitchen window proved we had eating birds.  I grabbed the snow shovel deciding to make a dig to the feeders.  Woo.  I would say I shoveled stuff that was a foot thick.  Thank goodness, half of the patio isn't very big. I think the snow dept was less in the yard, but I didn't measure.

Starlings trying to get in. It was a real surprise when one succeeded.                                          When the acorn is empty, it won't be refilled but used this spring for nesting material.                                               The sides of the acorn are just a smidgen to close to the cage.

To be funny...Doug asked if I got the paper.  That's part of being a man in the house on big snow days for sure. For one thing that helps him are his better boot/shoes.  I don't think a paper was delivered today. I made Doug promise not to shovel.  So far, he has kept that promise. The street has been shoveled more than once.  Good old Carmel has come through again.

The Downy Woodpecker along with other birds figured it out.

So, it was a quiet Sunday at home. Almost the last of Football today with the Bronco's and New England.  I'm a Bronco fan today along with grandson Andrew.  Tonight, the Seahawks and Rams.  I'll take the Rams.  Then comes the Super Bowl in a couple of weeks.

This is a sweet little bird called Junco.  They are ground feeders.  Today was the first time I have ever seen one sitting in the dish.  It happened this morning with a dish full of snow.  This afternoon I filled the dish with black sunflower seeds.  I think I'm seeing a happy Junco. A Finch is just a little higher on the same side of the feeder.  Sunlight wasn't available today.

The snow is to continue to some degree till tomorrow morning.  I'm so happy not to think about getting to work.  There is a blood draw sometime tomorrow.  I like early but I think the cleared driveway will determine the time.
