Thursday

Sweet little friend who loves to hide in the blankets.  He's done this for a very long time.

Happy New Year to the world and you!  Another marker for us.  Just a marker. The morning came a little later than usual and that's a good thing.  There was no paper for Doug which wasn't a good thing. It's a holiday! Some people take that seriously.  Retired folks forget about holidays.  Most any day could be a holiday.

Today was sort of a clean-up day.  I cleaned up the ham, cooking it off the bone and making some real good broth for later meals.  A couple of bags with ham chunks made it to the freezer.  I finished another scarf, this time with no hurry in mind.  I need to do more scarves with that in mind.

                                                                                Another Christmas memory.

I spent some time thinking about birds.  Feeders were filled with a few different places to put food.  I spotted a B Bird in the tree and immediately offered meal worms.  And down she came pecking at her favorite treat and staying for quite a while.  I tried meal worms at different places.  Nearest to the house was the best. It's not a favorite spot of the Starlings.  They prefer more space.

I watched a bit of the R B Parade.  My church friends, Jeannie and Neal were at the parade.  I texted her telling her to look for the eagle float.  It was awesome and she sent me pictures. Tickets in the I U end zone were a part of their deal for today.  I hope she waved to the IU players when they scored.

Then there were even more games with even more coming. Well, last night's game was also included until it was quite evident that Ohio State was on vacation.  I was off to bed ready to say Happy New Year in the morning.  Texas Tec was at the same beach as Ohio State during their game late morning today.

Indiana passed up the invitation to the beach party.  Good for them.  Bamma joined the other two teams.  The beer kegs at the beach were the drawing ticket.  That's one way to get over the sting of losing. At least for a while.

I did some wash and finally got the wool blanket on the bed.  We sort of missed the beginning of winter under wool. Life should be better now.  There is nothing quite like a light-weight wood to keep one warm.

So, another new beginning for us.  Year 2026.  I'll take it.  Tomorrow bright and early...say 8 am is another cancer two-shot morning at I U North.  It's not a bad way to start the day.  It just is what it is now part of my life.  And I would say another blessing coming my way but so unavailable to so many folks. I am grateful.
