Friday
Last night I went to bed with the prayer that I would have a good night of sleep to renew the body I live in. And this morning I said, "thank you, God". And then the promise I made was to respect the temple I live in. My comment to Doug as some point was...it isn't like it once was! Surprise, surprise!
A last crocus of the spring. It's time to pass beauty on to another plant. All the morning stuff happened and I decided it was a knitting morning. I continued on with using four needles to reach to the top of the hat. Four needle knitting is certainly not my favorite thing to do but there would be no hat unless I carried on. So I did and the hat is finished. It's not my best work but good enough for a first hat.
A second hat is on the needles barely started. I want to do better and I think I can. There will be a few changes but not many. It will be red with a tassel for sure. That took care of part of the morning. The other part was spent with the rake and garden cart raking out winter and looking for spring. Woo. There was a lot of raking with piles of leaves and sticks and pine cones seemingly everywhere. Not quite but almost everywhere. My body said tired and I quit. Andif you were guessing nap, you got that right. Add lunch and that was the ticket to more sitting and feeling a bit better.
In among the leaves perhaps hiding are the blue bell buds waiting for a little more time. Then around three I was right back at it with more raking and collecting with a total of 1 and 1/2 big blues full of stuff for the Big Blue Truck next Wednesday. In between all this Doug took the cart and finished the job of picking up sticks from the front yard. He had a total of two loads with the neighbor children helping.
Jonquils and a Lupine showing up early. Both showed a lot of stress when it was +2. They have fully recovered.
Neighbor Ginna was working in her yard doing much the same tasks as we were doing. It's that time of year for sure in the neighborhood. The garbage trucks are a necessary thing these days.
Flower beds are looking good. The zinnias are coming up in their little gallon green house. More things are showing up every day. That's just what I'm needing.
Inside the jug. See those little green things. They will grow up to be beautiful zinnias. This evening will be knitting and the Purdue game. Onward and forward is the word. My cancer meds arrived this afternoon, now coming from the I U Pharmacy. There are a few more great perks now that I U is sending them. I am SO grateful. This medicine is way beyond our means. Good things do happen. I count my many blessings naming them one by one.
A gift from Doris Douglas, given years ago. All clean and neat waiting for surprises. She who loves a garden fills it with many things, some being love and understanding with hope.
Good job with the hat. It is a cute, complicated pattern - with circular and four needles at once - I’m impressed! When you wear it at your next No Kings Walk, be sure to send us a photo! 🤗
