Wednesday.
Exciting days ahead. They happen every spring. I'm finding many buds on first time jonquils bulbs planted in my garden.
It'a mid-week Garbage Day also called Wednesday in the real world. Up early. The night was one of those long awake nights. It's a puzzle to me with a brain too busy to sleep perhaps. No second graders to teach so I'll be just fine today.
Breakfast and the morning started with a lot of rain, some thunder and dark clouds. It was threatening until around 9. Now how crazy is that. Bad weather usually is a late afternoon evening thing. I guess it is something to keep us wondering. That's a good thing.
The morning was a bit slow. I opened three cans of chickpeas, drained them, spread them out on a cookie sheet and sprinkled them with olive oil and seasoning. Then into the oven they went with a very low 200 at the most temperature. They turn into little nutty snacks full of protein. Really full of protein they say and we love them. Different spices can be used. I'm taking some to the Live Strong meeting tomorrow. We think about protein and their importance in cancer patient treatment.
I had lunch and decided more garden work was the order of the day since the rain had stopped and the sun was out. So, the hard work of cleaning the large Lambs Ear bed was the assignment. And I would say it was liberation day with the debris used to hide succulents and dump into flower beds waiting for new soil. It will be a big job to eliminate standing water in two beds. That's this year's deal. After the Lambs Ear job it was time for a Protein drink. Woo. I worked hard enough for the reward.
I found Blue Bells have emerged. Woo, woo. That's such a good spring sign. Other things are popping up. Yellow Celadon Poppies are on the way along with a host of other things. Cleaning up and covering over things seems to be happening in places. The fall clean-up is a big one and spring seems not to be far behind.
My red hat pro
Sweet little blue bells the first of many to come found their way UP to say first come first enjoyed. But shhhh. I'll enjoy every one of them if they are the first or last.
My red hat protest project came to a standstill with directions I didn't understand. I called Mary, who called Holly the direction queen who I then called and left a message, and she called back with all the information I needed. So, I'm on to some interesting knitting, now working on the last part which will take a while but is something different to keep track of. Something good for mind development some would say. If you wonder why the name look up Norway and the Nazis in World War 2.
Little by little, the hat gets a little bigger. It's burgundy in color.I decided it would not be a Y day but a walk around the block with Stella. I love having something to hold on to giving me a little more stability. I think my balance shows improvement, but it is always a good idea to have a third or fourth leg alongside. Humm. I just got a message on the phone. Bad weather is on the way. Now that walk is up in the air along with the rain that is coming down predicted for most of the afternoon. The third option is the chair with needles. Sounds good to me. I hope to get more pictures later in the day.
The Lenten Rose beds are filling very fast. They are loving the rain.
