Friday
Another good night of sleep. They do appear every so often and I'm so happy they do. The morning routine happened and I was out the door looking at the messy place I wrote about yesterday. But before that work started I was across the street to the best garage sale ever. The Mrs. is my size and she was almost giving away a closet size bunch of clothes with her closet still filled. I came home with pull overs tops pants and intend to go back for another look when their garage door goes up.
The beginning of the dahlia bed is the hope for this space. All is ready but the plants. They will come in May. The stepping stones have found a new home. Over the years they have been many places.Once home I started moving stone path material to another bed and raking the path area where the stone path had been. Then new preparation began fir another stone path in the new bed. That bed would be where the dahlias would be planted eventually.
This little guy found a new place to live where once the path to the bench went. That was the morning work but the evening work involved more transplanting with the hope this area will have more interest. At the bottom of the pictures are the blue bells which took a bit hit today with the heat. The flowers are over and soon the rest of the plant will melt away growing underground during the summer preparing to appear again next spring. With garden cart and stone pavers I pulled it across to the new area saved for dahlias. Before they could be laid I dug up a lot of dirt preparing it for the preen anointing and the final rake. It was a morning of work but when 10:30 came I called it quits.
With a look in the jug, I found straw flowers growing. Woo. Exciting news. The HEAT did it.It was time to clean up and meet my teaching buddies of years ago for a lunch at Dooley's. And talk we did with the subject so different than years ago when we four taught first grade together. Now it was about older husbands, health issues, some subjects sort of loners but then came the similar things. hip. knee replacements, eye problems, and more.
We need a new subject for the next lunch out.
On my way home I detoured west to Kathy's garden looking for Nigella. And there it was. Super!
I spent some time going through my old clothes to see what needed to go and finding room for the new morning garage sale stuff.
And the Heat brought filled out Iris buds. Life is good. Then supper came with a salad and I was out and about again working on the plot where the stepping stones once were. Hosta moved in along with a few ferns, Solomon Seal but some other things landed in the big blue. It's looking more alive and interesting now but the new arrivals would appreciate rain even better..
Another big thank you for energy, mental and physical to make a difference in so many ways. All the time God is good. God is good all the time.
I took a few pictures early in the day but then the iPhone seemed to run out of juice before I did. Funny how that happens.
