Thursday
What a gift and to be outside with the blue above is where I was today. Blessed for sure. Such a reminder of the summer sky at Copper Harbor, Michigan.
Closing in on another week under the belt. Today was another one at home. Woo, woo. I like those. There was a little rain in the morning but not enough to make me move from the bench on the patio. It was a drop here and there. Mostly there. The forecast was for a week of rain. That hasn't happened.
I finished moving rocks that was part of yesterday assignment on one flowerbed. I was completely toasted yesterday so didn't finish the job. Another bed is finished with a good outline ready for annuals in May. There is one rock cleaning edging job to do LATER. This body just takes me so far. Sometimes not far enough. Then I get dumped!
But there was other gardening stuff. I could call it transplanting day. Different kinds of coral bells found new places to grow having decided that where they were just wasn't in their best interest. I moved some ginger and fern. And the stone path leading to the pond got an improvement in looks.
The dead thyme got pulled and more was added from a spot in the herb garden. I think the new empty spot will hold peppers.
Mr. Rooster got a move to overlook the hens and chicks for the summer. And the pussy willow fence got a few more additions that I think make it a little more interesting in looks.
In all of this moving caused a new place to look pretty dumpy. One move puts something else in the attention column.
NEXT! What a mess. The gallon jug seeds are really pokey. There is something going on in one of them but the others are sleeping. Should I start over or should I wait? That's a gardener's dilemma.
I did a late afternoon to the check on the Hostas! My favorite Sum and Substance.
Surrounded by smelly Lilly of the Valley. Deer don't like odors. I don't like L of the V. They take over and are poisonous to small animals. Another Sum and Substance. No L of the V. And the chef has provided meals for the deer. The deer have not found the third planting so far of Sum and Substance. It was uber time for Eric again which can drive one crazy with all the construction on the three major ways for folks to enter and exit the north side toward Indianapolis. I think tonight we'll start earlier and try a new way south. I don't expect success but we'll give it a go. We'll see if Keystone will take us to 75th street. From then on it's an easy go. I think!
One last picture. Confession is good for the soul. Especially when confession is heard by a Catholic Priest. So here we go Father Dee. When visiting when you lived in Macon I carted home two rocks from your garden. Reminders of our great visit. And here is one again today snuggled up against one of the transplants of the morning. It still reminding me of that great visit with you and John and John's family. The afternoon included a strawberry power drink and a nice sleep. Both very necessary again.
