Thursday
We're coasting to the end of another week. That seems to happen faster and faster. Especially when one is busy. This whole week has been unplanned busy. I list that as three busy weeks in a row. I always think the next week will be slower. Ha. Ha. Surprise, surprise! You think maybe next week?
Today, there was early morning time for coffee and breakfast. Time to use the chair. Then it was off to Noblesville to the eye doctor. Glasses for me and an exam for Doug. Two in one trip. It usually takes at least 40 to 50 minutes travel time depending on the traffic to reach the office. It amazes me every trip north how the area has developed during the last year or so. People are filling farm land to the north.
I can see again. I put them on at the doctor's office. I think I took them off once today. They darken in the sun with no line bifocals. And you know I'll be in the sun. No glare. They are wonderful. So the glasses happened and the reexamination for Doug happened. Done! Over! Finished! for five months.. Currently I can report that Doug has one good eye and one that is not so good having macular degeneration. The progress is slow and heredity. Doug's grandfather had the same eye problem. I'll be doing the night driving. Today I even got to do the day driving.
We stopped at the Hamilton County Court House and submitted our vote for the spring. One more thing over and can be forgotten till we see the results. Forgetting is easy.
The afternoon hours gave me time to start seeds in gallon containers. The seeds are watered and the days ahead seems to be a warmer in temperature. They have a little over a month before transplant day.
I hope to see a lot of change in the containers which really serve as little green houses. I started a lot of zinnias as well as two gal. containers of straw flowers. The containers will stay on the picnic table taking in the sun to warm the soil. Both of these seeds like HOT temperatures. The taped jugs help that process along.
I spent a little time at Rosie's looking at all the flower choices for pots. One big pot is finished but there are more to do on another day.
They may need a little protection from the hot sun and wind.
Three good looking cabbages plants are in the garden.
Yesterday after the big raking, it became clear that another bed needed to have wild strawberry eradication. Those little plants were hiding under the leaves. I ran out of today time so it's on the to do list for tomorrow. I had time to spread a little preen on the stone walk way. I think most of the big jobs for now are finished. It's just little touches to keep the garden on the right path with no bad neighbors moving along side.
Here is another something that I lean on...
No amount of regret changes the past. No amount of anxiety changes the future. Any amount of gratitude changes the present. by Ann Voskamp
