Monday.

An evening picture with lighting coming from the west.

This morning was the morning to plant zinnias, STATE FAIR Zinnias.  They are tall and beautiful but there is a moment when I'm sad to treat them harshly only to make them become wonderful.  After they adjust to planting and they start to grow, it's time to snip their tops off.  My goodness.  It hurts me as much as it hurts them.  But the good thing is that snip encourages them to branch out to support more flowers.  The wait for flowers is a little longer but in the long run, it's a good thing.

Surviving the first day in the ground.  More days to grow are on the way.

Now the flats purchased at the tent holds 24 places for planting but in many of the places, two or three plants are growing.  My mother taught me how to tease the plants apart without snapping off a bunch of roots.  So there was a lot of teasing and I have no idea right now how many I planted.  They are everywhere and that's just what I wanted.  Now with the seeds sprouting (I hope) the garden should be full of color this summer.  I'm excited.

I had lunch and then back to the tent for tomatoes and peppers.  I think that should be close to the last run any where for plants.  They will find a home tomorrow.

Doug spent the afternoon with one of the bushes.  It now is taking the space allotted to it.  Not all that it wanted.  It's about two thirds smaller.  Good job Doug.

A place to rest but still needing a pillow and book.

My noon break included a long visit by phone to a very good friend Nancy Baxter now living in the Cleveland area.  We went over in detail yesterday's celebration.  Nancy was our minister of education while in the Indianapolis area.  I made sure my phone was charged ready for a long talk on the patio with a cup of coffee.  And while on the phone with her a Baltimore Oriole flew in to one of the feeders.  My goodness I felt I had quit breathing when seeing the bird.

Jared told me that Kimmy got a new O. feeder for Mother's Day.  So, I made sure that that same kind was purchased this afternoon at Meijers and now hangs by the patio.  Now, I am depending on the Oriole I saw this morning returns for a meal at the new feeder..

I'm hanging out on the patio tomorrow.

After purchasing the plants I tried to find some good food to plant with the tomatoes stopping at three stores.  I just was overwhelmed when trying to make a selection, so I came home.  I think what I have will be good enough.  I guess time will tell.

Supper was with the northside North group.  Smaller this time but just as mighty!  More ball tonight is the plan.
