Saturday.

It would seem that it is time to liberate the straw flowers from their protective jug.                                                                          There will be many plants.

Today started with a sharp cold wind from the North.  Once again Jared left the door open.  And it stayed that way for quite a while.  The sun did bring a false sense of warmth.

The morning sun gave the burgundy leaves of the Smoke Tree some extra excitement.

I stayed in the chair reading about Dahlias.  I hope the surprises that come with something new aren't big surprises.  Just surprises.  I think I'll see Dahlias in about two weeks. We spent some of the morning at Aldi's.  I seem to somehow run out of yogurt among other things.  It was mostly breakfast and lunch stuff that found their way into the cart.  We finished in record time and we have the packing up stuff down to just a few minutes.  We're good at that. Doug fights the pretend minions for cart pushing duty.  Have at it Doug! I pack the cold stuff for the refrigerator and Doug packs the rest.

I visited with Gina after the cupboards were full.  She's been sick for a while but the latest round of meds seems to be putting her on the better side of health.

Another morning walk picture taken not far from the first.

The afternoon was a tad warmer and with sweat shirt on I made it outside to begin planting things that came home with me this week.  I left three things to do on another day. Tiny plants showing up in the milkweed and herb garden moved to other spots that involved a lot of walking.  There is more to do and there are more days to do it in.  Thank goodness.  It's like magic is happening when something new appears. I love to think of new ways to do the old stuff.

Some very old self seeding flowers were moved to more space.  There are move to move.                                                                         I'll remember the name some day!

While messing around I noticed that one of the black swallowtail chrysalis saved from last fall was starting to emerge.  It turned out to be very tiny and unable to survive.  There are more possibilities.  The odds don't look to good.  The butterfly cage emerged to be washed and ready for what ever is needed.  Bring on the Monarchs.  There is plenty of common milkweed but flowers usually draw the butterflies in.  It's a bit sparce when it comes to flowers these days and way to cold for caterpillars.

                                                        Partly in and partly out.
A neighbor came by and walked the garden and then I went to her house and walked her garden.  That's a fun thing to do. Then she was off to Cool Creek to walk that beautiful spot.  I continued on with closing up the garden work for the day.  Enough done in one afternoon.

A couple of fall asters got to move.  They look healthy.

Then it was Derby Time.  Another good race and after that it was time for basketball.  Another good day on Hillsdale.  There have been many and hopefully more.

Another big Hosta was liberated.  Then there is Jenny!
