Saturday

The morning brought magic.  It was beautiful beyond words to walk the gardens with a touch of mist arising from the night of rain.  Once again my mother, gone for over 50 years, sang to me a favorite morning song from our yellow kitchen bathed in the eastern sun,  I owe the Lord a morning song of gratitude and praise.  For the kind mercy he has shown in lengthening out my days.

Today was another meal preparation morning at church.  It's been a while but it was our Saturday crew time.  I left home at 8 and returning at 1. We were pretty busy the whole morning long, always sure to be happy when on the way home taking a tired body with me.

This peony was a gift to us from a long ago church buddy Mr. Monday more than 50 years ago.                                                                          Old things are good things.

I rewarded myself by stopping at 52nd  Street Sullivans on the way home.  They were busy folks.  I found borage.  It's a very interesting herb with a whole lot said about it on google.

Borage grows to be rather large so the cage keeps it from falling over and not taking over.

A small bag of grass seed was another need along with potash which they didn't have.  Dahlias like that stuff. I'm getting excited about those Dahlias.  That is a complete surprise to me.

There was lunch and then of course for the rest of the afternoon I was outside missing the Fever but catching the last bit of the Detroit/Cleveland game.  Doug spent some time working on one of the bushes needing a good hair cut after a spring of blooming. Nasturtium seeds were planted. Basil and cucumber seed planting is coming soon.

One of these days there will be some sweet cabbage slaw from the garden.                          There is nothing much better than cooked cabbage slathered with butter!

Two more butterflies have emerged from their wintered over chrysalises.  One a bit crippled but the second one perfectly made.

I will release them tomorrow.  I wish there were more flowers out.

I dug through the zinnia seed box saved from last summer separating some of the chaff from the seeds.  I've done enough dividing and conquering for a while but just a perfect job to do on the patio enjoying the breezes that come and go.

Yes, the hope is that more magic appears in the garden in about a week.

I call this a record shot of the back yard.  My hiding place. Really, not a good hiding place.                                          People know I'm in the yard more than anywhere else these days.

More basketball tonight and I can say once again it was a great day of many things happening for many reasons.
