Sunday Mother's Day

The perfect Mother's Day card for a gardener.  What a hoot.

And it was a wonderful Mother's Day perhaps not as one would think was the usual celebration.  The one Doug and I experience is always what happens at church.  It's a great celebration day with our church choir children and their mothers.

So here is the deal for 2026.  It was a very special more than usual celebration.  Denise C. and her husband have shared their musical talents with our church children through the years.  Every year Denise has written a 30 minute musical on many subjects that North aspires to.  Today the musical stressed acceptance and kindness using many songs along with dialogue.  It's a big event meaning that Sunday School for the day stops and we all meet in fellowship hall to hear the message.  It's an event that never disappointments with excitement visible coming from the children and their audience. Today's event was the last one that Denise along with Rosie will direct.  Denise has the younger children from Kindergarten to second grade and Rosie continues on with Third through Sixth grade. Nothing lasts forever and this is one of those that will  leave us with wonderful memories.

During the second service the mothers and their choir member children sang once again as they usually do on Mother's Day.  The Dad's will be with their children on Father's Day with Rosie directing.

There were testimonials from former choir members coming from Chicago as well as other places nearer, as the service ended.  And then a great reception after church was held in Fellowship Hall.

And the last hymn of the morning was Up from the Grave He Arose, always sung by the children on Easter for all the years Denise directed them.

All those who ever sang with Denise were invited to the front of the church.  Their instructions were to sing the first verse of Up From the Grave He Arose.  And they did.  Our grandsons Noah and Andrew joined the group.
And for the last time Denise directed them. Her husband Jim was by her side.

Today the whole congregation sang the second and third verse and every child sand all three verses from memory.

A morning filled with worship, memories, stories and cookies abounded.  A great day for all.

Both of our children's choir directors.  Rosie J. and Denise C. singing the closing hymn.

The afternoon was quiet with time on the patio just taking in the view along with the warm sunshine.  I did a little work in the garden finishing up seed planting along with a little watering.  The butterflies were released and on their way.  There was an unexpected nap that helped refresh after absorbing a lot of sun, carrying water and planting.  I did a little labeling but the afternoon was pretty simple.

It's the beginning of a what seems to be a pretty easy week. There is one appointment Tuesday and the rest of the hours are mine, so to speak.  It's time to think about Pentecost Sunday visuals along with Pride visuals.
