Thursday

First on the BLOG!  Posted for our Sterling Michigan and Lake Medora U P of Michigan camping friends, the Lupine is showing color.  This plant came to me as a seed from their home near Eagle Harbor, Mi.

Thank you so much Gary and Judy. You also hold great memories.

I was so busy at the end of the afternoon and what happened in the morning is sort of a blur.  If I can let the roll-a-dex spin a few times maybe that will get this stuck memory wheel going.  I do remember that today would be Dahlia day.  Whoopee!

Oh, yes...the day started with the rake and shovel and loosening the soil where the Dahlias would be planted.  So that happened.  I worked on better placement of stepping stones.  They can be deadly if not level.  I continued on to other places that needed a break in the soil.  I loaded the garden cart with four containers of water and pushed it to the garden.  Smart move.  It really helped to get the job completed after two loads of water.  I decided it was time to get plants for the Noah pond so off to Rosie's I went.  Out of the plant I wanted but more coming in yet this week.  So I looked at Dahlia's in bags and chose one.  Now here is where it gets a little good crazy.

Rosie's as usual was busy as a bee.  There was a check out line and I was in line with a young lady in front of me.  She was carrying a flat and a bag of pond plants.  She forgot to get a cart.  Yes...would have, could have, should have.   I suggested I could hold the pond plant making the flat easier for her.  Then the conversation moved on to other things making the wait interesting.  She lived on the west side. I lived on the east side. I was a retired teacher.  The question was, where did you teach.  She went to College Wood. She gave me her teachers names.  I knew them and had worked with her first grade teacher when she was at Forest Dale.  It was her turn for check out.  She called me to join her and she insisted on paying for my soon to be in the ground Dahlia.  What a surprise.  I remember during Covid the same experience at Ace Hardware when someone had given a sum of money to help folks pay for what they were purchasing.  It didn't matter what the purchase was. I cried. It was such a tense time of living. People are good, very good. I must remember to do the good that I can when I can. Some things should never be forgotten.

And then Laurel came with Dahlias in the afternoon.  Twelve were planted in the Dahlia Cove.  It is beautiful now with healthy green plants ready to grow tall each beside a stake. and be even more beautiful.  Three more will be added Sunday.  Another good deed I received.  How blessed I am

So it was a day with a whole lot of Thanksgiving for the goodness that comes when ever possible.  I wish it were the same for more folks around the world.

Supper happened on the patio. We did a drugstore run and I watered the neighbors pots filled with flowers while they are out of town for a few days.  The song that traveled with me today was one the choir sang Sunday.  O Love, O Love, O Love that will not let me go.  I rest my wherry soul in thee.  It's one that I've sung and a wonderful one that returns often unexpectedly in my memory, just like a good friend. Tonight, the choir will learn who the new director of music at North is.  That's a big announcement.
