Thursday

Part of the garden but I can't remember the name.  Never could! Nothing new.  Sometimes it blooms like this year.  Sometimes it doesn't like other years.

It was another full day.  So full I can't remember everything.  Like what happened this morning.  I think it was pretty quiet and yes, there were wet feet again which proves to me I was out and about making decisions for the day.  One being what needed to be moved because the common milkweed was hiding what needed to see the sun.  Poor planning on my part or perhaps over extended milkweed.  Pick one.

Now this plant is called Goats Beard. It should be covered with these flowers but the deer always agree with me about liking this plant.  So, the deer shares it with me.  I think I got jipped.

I did make a run to the drugstore for Magnesium.  That's demands a big decision to get in the car and drive north.  Harder than you might imagine.  For road improvements, Rt. 31 is closed from 106th street to the south.  Maybe even north.  I ignore that road.  College is under construction both north and south.  I ignore that road unless I'm going to Rosie's.  Westfield is under improvement construction north and south.  I ignore that road.  106 street is partically closed preparing for another round about.   Keystone is the only open road so all cars from the other three roads take Keystone north and south.  Yikes.  The drugstore is north! So I make the trip only to find that I'll need to make another trip.  I told Doug I was going to try to go on every constructioner's lunch hour. That didn't work so well.  It's summer in Carmel.  Easy to tell. So if you are a local reader wanting to travel north, think again.  Plan ahead and give yourself TIME! You might take a helicopter.

The first Hosta in bloom.  More to come but not soon.

The afternoon was spent moving more plants. And there will be more.  Things are getting a bit tight! Plants started from seed finally are making their entrance.  The rain and cool temperatures has made the growing from seeds SLOW!  Slower than molassas in January.   They need heat but are finally peeking out of the ground barely visable. In some places the ground can be worked. It's dry enough. Other places, not so hot.  I should say not so dry.  I dusted some zinnias that had been attacked by bugs.  Some I replanted.  Those in the sun were fine.  Others in more protected areas were lunch for ?

New seed by the kitchen window.  It's a birds eye view.

Neighbors dropped in this morning while walking and I gave them a good tour telling them always welcome and no need to ask permission.  Just walk in. I might put a sign at the road.  I've tried that before which didn't work so good.  You might need to be a fellow gardener to enjoy a garden walk.

Supper was a salad.  I tried to bait a squirrel with peanuts and the Have a Heart Trap..  I've had bulbs dug up for the first time in my gardening life.  They are too big for the trap.

I'll blame the hole on the squirrels.  It's the second one I found today.

More basketball tonight with more garden book reading.  I love pictures.  I'm expecting a good sleep and then Friday will be here.
