Wednesday
Complements of the plant swap. It's been a good year for Iris.
Crazy morning. Well, something different maybe not so crazy. Last night's sleep was a bit different having a lot of noticeably achy places in my body. Hips, back, legs...you name it but I did do some sleeping. So the morning continued the same way and by afternoon, all was better. It seems to be something the cancer meds bring. Yes. I'll take it as one of the side affects. Walking was a challenge so I didn't do much. It's hard to walk without your hips moving!
Can you believe all that orange and black at the Michigan homestead. I told Kimmy I was sure some were fake. The hummingbird showed up in the afternoon.I kept things as normal a day as possible. The rabbits have been after the straw flowers big time. Bummer for sure. I had a second jug of straw flowers thinking I would take them to the plant sale. That changed and this morning I made an effort to plant more strawflowers which I did. I gave them a good spray with rabbit off and we'll see how that might deter the rabbits. I did a walk around and sprayed Hosta plants that were nibbled with rabbit off. I made some identification tags. Other than that the morning was slowed with achy breaky going on.
I'm growing Cottage Cheese Containers. Well, I hope the strawflowers are protected.Lunch came along and I spent it on the patio watching the birds. What entertainment. By afternoon the body was happier. Time was spent edging the butterfly garden. Not hard work but it did make the area look a little better. I did a lot of iris dead heading . Last year I found an easy way to accomplish this by sitting on my rollator, or shall we say Stella. The garden cart comes along side where all the cut off trash is collected. It's easy on the back since there are so many clips that need to happen. Sitting while gardening is delightful. Mid afternoon brought another patio sit with a blueberry protein drink. Life is good.
Not quite but on their way out till next spring.A text received from Laurel told me that tomorrow will be Dahlia delivery day. I can't wait to see how many she brings. Dahlias can be started from seed with the outcome unknown. All of her planted seeds grew of which there were many and will be exciting to learn what outcome shows up when they bloom.
Sum and Substance. One of my favorites because of huge leaves some with two shades of green. The deer love them as well.So far all the zinnia seeds I planted have yet to appear. I did a bit of scratching and found a seed sprouting. I'm ready to see green. There was rain last night but I think I'll do some watering tonight. I fill the watering jugs. Put them in the garden cart and push the whole thing to where it needs to go. It reminds me of how the grocery carts help folks to walk. It's a Stella rollator.
Edging...my obsession. It also was my mother's obsession. The last of the asparagus patch.
I love the iris - both kinds pictured today! I don't know why I am anonymous today but I will just go with it. It is 65 and sunny in Atlanta.
