Friday
Another day to work on easy things and hard things. The Living Strong group is working on solving some R issues. I don't want to call them a problem. It's an issue that needs solving. R has not responded to anything as I write this. So, visiting is a must to see if conversation will stimulate the mind once again. We know bits and pieces about R but the puzzle is still a puzzle. So, we're working.
This morning once again was a beautiful morning to sit on the patio to watch the birds and think about the day. The Cairn idea remained fresh in my mind and I wanted to shake that loose. Somehow, I wanted to create a Cairn with what I had in the garden. And I did when I thought about changing what I had, using it in a new way.
A Cairn is a trail marker. It might mark a burial spot or be a boundary marker. In modern times Cairns may symbolize meditation, balance and Zen. It is a Scottish Galic term meaning heap of rocks.
Now I have a Cairn and the spot it came from now is currently the summer camp site for the indoor plants. I hope they enjoy their experience. Solving two things at once is a superpower play. Cairn and Camp!
I had a great visit with neighbor Gina talking about a lot of things. She is adding another flowerbed to her front yard collection of trees and beds. She never stops but just keeps going from one project to the next. I shared that her circle bed reminded me of U F O's. circles. When funny looking creatures start to appear, it's time for me to go. She talked about what might be the next project, sealing her fence which isn't small.
How lucky can I get? This garden member says I'm very lucky. I think there will be more colors. The Blue Birds have a wonderful sight, the results of a great gardener right outside their house.During the morning walk I found Holly Hocks showing color. That was an exciting time since all other years the deer beat me to anything near a Holly Hock plant. Speaking of deer, I spotted one walking down the middle of the street to a neighbor's salt lick this morning. I would say in no hurry. Grrrrrr.
I picked another salad spinner full of bibs and regular lettuce this afternoon. It's slowing in growth and the hot sun will make it bitter soon. It's been delicious. Then there will be fall lettuce after doing a late summer planting.
Doug did a drive to Noblesville to pick up new glasses. Yes, there are closer doctors, but this one has been with us for a long time. The beat goes on. When he returns and we eat supper I hope to be on my way to Community North to see R. Her nurse suggested the company might help. We'll hope for sure.
We're eating a bit early tonight to accommodate the trip to Community North.
PS. I saw R and she is quite wiped out but did say a few things when I asked a couple of questions. She is receiving treatment for a returning cancer. Her body is very tired.
