Friday

Aren't these just the sweetest things with the evening sun doing it's best lightening.

The morning started a bit strange.  I woke up at 7.  That's a big change in my routine but I'll take it any day.  Doug was even up before me.  Now that's new news.  So the morning started a bit slow with going away clothes being the look of the morning.

From the garden to the kitchen with three more buds waiting to open any day now.                              The more one cuts, the more will bloom.  There is no way to loose unless cuts are forgotten.

Yes, we were on our way to see Doug's heart doctor with appointment time at 10;25.  It would seem that there are a lot of doctor trips .  And this road trip was a bit longer needing to go to Saxony east of Fishers.  And true to form Doug thinks arriving really early is on time.  I figured an hour drive to Saxony.  No it was about 25 minutes.  Thank goodness, Doug had his usual magazine and I had my iPhone.  Doug always does this trip by himself but this time he asked if I wanted to go.  Humm.  Was he a little nervous.  I think so.  We're having a follow up visit next Wed. for some heart work.  It seems Doug has some symptoms that I heard about for the first time at the Doctor's office.  That didn't surprise me at all after living with him for ALL these years.  I'm sure that happens to other folks. He's very dependable that way.

Dear Rosemary is about to burst the pot.  The rain must have included grow juice.                         I planted two small plants thinking I should have gotten three.  One might have been enough.                                                      No body never has too much Rosemary.

Back home again on the ranch for lunch.  Then I grabbed the little rake and I was out in the garden.  I have been feeling a little sad about the condition of my State Fair Zinnias.  But this afternoon after all the rain that has fallen, they have taken a big leap in the right direction.  I talked to all of them with congratulations all around. I did some trimming, adding room to the growing space for some.  The butterfly garden is in great shape.  I'm sure when all blooms appear I'll be seeing butterflies.

few of the zinnias that will attract butterflies to their nectar.  There will be many more.                     Some of the plants have really bulked up with many buds.  I expect the same for others soon.

Then I went to the dahlia patch.  The ground was perfect for fluffing and I made sure that all of them have received their first pinching which allows them to bulk up making more flowers.

I checked other places later in the afternoon and found the third site where I planted cannas but forgot their location.  It's not hard to forget.  The brain needs to add storage.

After supper I added a few more little plants to some empty spots and fluffed another bed.  Doug made a run to the woods again.  I think that has happened every day this week.  I suspect the chipmunks are following the trail of their predecessor directly to the trap.

The number of buds on ALL the many varieties of daylilies is huge.  Water makes flowers and we certainly have had a tremendous amount this last week.  I was out with DEER and RABBIT Off tonight.  The deer could have a feast if it doesn't work.  The rabbit is chopping off the long asparagus spears that has gone to seed.  Why? Not sure. Peter greeted me in the garden tonight.  I suspect he is the dill snipper.  He can have all the clover in the yard.  There are a few patches.

The temperature was a bit more reasonable today.  It's June...NOT July or August.  Yikes.  Moderation in June is a good thing. There could be more rain in a few days!   Bring it on in moderation, please!
