Monday
I get excited even when I see a Dahlia bud. This is a big one on a Kathy plant started very early.
Monday, Monday. Another day of doing. I was off to do church work around 8:45 stopping at Rita's house for labeled clams used for carry out food at Bread and Bowl. Then on to church were the crew was at work. It was time to put Pentecost back in the box for another year. And we closed the box only to get a few Pride things up for the month of June. There is a wedding at church on Friday which curtailed some of what we wanted to do. We'll finish next week. It's another one of those month activities. Then comes the green ordinary season with no changes for five months. Woo. We need that space.
I even watered the mulch with the hope it stayed where I put it. So far, so good. Then back home and immediately it was Aldi's time. The cupboard was BAIR, Bear, Bare! The Bair reminds me of Miss Bair, my first and third grade teacher. Back to Aldi's. We filled the cart and hurried home to fill all the empty shelve spots. We avoided Saturday and Crazy Sunday at the grocery making us very needy. And the good people at Aldi's had most shelves filled again. Well, at least the stuff we buy.
Five flower buds on the Acanthas. What a lucky me. It loves this sunny spot. Those in the shade are taking it easy so far this year. Last year the deer ate everyone of these Hosta plants to the ground. They have the nicest aroma with the purest white flowers. I'll keep it sprayed. The afternoon was filled with fertilizing and watering beds. Woo. That will do until toward the end of the week when it should rain. I liked today's cloudy Monday. Some things were watered by sprinkler and others by watering can. I was happy to be finished and the chair has taken care of all the usual things so nicely.
I learned about Lantana when visiting John and Dee years ago. It's a perennial in Georgia. Not here.I spent a little time finally creating another garden form with pussywillow branches. It was so easy but I just never took the time to do it. It cages another dahlia that is really tiny now. I hope it makes it. I'm sure this structure has a name but I haven't a clue what it's called.
No hope of keeping the bunnies out but it does make a statement of form and shape.Supper was another great salad with added things from the store today. About a week ago I finally got radishes in the ground. They are up and I think make a salad even more yummy. They surprise those taste buds.
