Monday

Baby pink I call this flower color.

A workday for many although some people work the weekend as well. So, Monday isn't like Monday 80 years ago for sure.  It was Wash day in the cellar at our house.  Clothes on the line took care of drying in the summer.  They hung in the cellar in the winter. Moms didn't work outside the home.  There was plenty to do at home.  Many of our children have no concept of clothes on the line or what a wringer on the washing machine could be.  Times have changed and will continue to change.  But for now, it's Monday 2026.

I couldn't ignore these friends tonight.

My walk through the garden this morning found plants in pretty good shape with the ground soaked to the max.  It's as flat as a pancake.  So, there will be no watering for a few days.  That's great.  I worked on the patio this morning.  I should have capitalized work.  I've been noticing that the iron table and two of the four chairs were being attacked with mildew or fungus or something icky.  I knew they needed some extra attention.  So instead of clothes, it was furniture this Monday morning.  They got a great hard bath with soap and Clorox and scrubbed to the max with a brush and wire scratcher.  And they are CLEAN!  I was whipped. I did a bit of sitting to fill the energy bucket again.  It was EMPTY.  My hope is that the furniture treatment will last for a long time.

All together now.  This whole area got a deer off treatment tonight.  They need to move on.                                                      A white Holly Hock is the next  color in line.

There was lunch and the afternoon was filled with TV and plastic bag preparation for food take out for the month of June and July at church.  It's an easy do but just took time.  I have plenty of bags waiting to prepare and will move on to August and Sept. soon.  I think I did 6 months' worth of bags the last time I prepared bags. It's always good to think ahead. It's an easy job.  And time at church needs to be reserved for other things helping us to meet the deadline of 11 am when we open to feed the community.

Robert A Rooster is keeping watch as usual over his hens and chicks.

Doug did another chipmunk Uber this afternoon.  I think they are following a previous chipmunk trail into the bird feeder area not knowing right near by the feeder is the set trap.  They never miss it.   Its summer and the chipmunks are on the way.

Another Uber trip was made in the evening to the park woods we call the playground.

Now if only we could trap the digger squirrels.  The birds have been entertaining.  Mr. B Bird is a bully.  Mr. Wren is remodeling the house hoping for a Mrs. to come around soon.  The Nuthatch must have babies nearby.  The feeder sees that bird a lot. Of course, there are plenty of sparrows, but the starlings are a bit sparce. Hooray!

                                                                    Open all the way tonight.

The afternoon also included sleepy time.  And supper was our monthly visit with other church folks at McAlister's.  That's a great time to visit with friends.  There usually is between 12 and 15 of us talking about everything. There was a drugstore run on the way home.  Basketball tonight!

I added some very green frogs to the fairy world, gifted by the Schillings.
