Monday

Acanthus looking better than ever.  It's a happy camper in the sun this year.

It's been a beautiful day in the neighborhood.  Perfect temperatures to work outside make it that way.  So when all the necessary's were finished on the inside, I was outside of course.  There should be no surprise reading that was the case.

The second color of the summer.  It's getting exciting.

I moved over to the primroses.  Now how could I fix this area?  Well, I tried.  I moved some interesting wood into the area. Some Japanese ferns were added along with a little ground cover.  There are two Hosta in the bed that appear unbelievable late.  I'm thinking after the primrose bloom. Time will tell if I did the right thing. There was a bit of futzing and then lunch came along.  I watched soccer which was quite exciting with a whole lot of successful crazy goal tending done by a 40 year old guy.  It was the teams first time ever to the FiFa and against Spain.  I heard they hadn't lost a game in two years.  It was a draw...0 to 0.

I spotted a Monarch this morning.  It was a furious flyer as it usually is.                                    Tonight a large bumble bee was taking advantage of one of the common milkweed nector.

Then I was back outside again, this time working on the second primrose bed. I pulled a lot of creeping Jenny to make room for transplants this evening.  The bleeding heart was showing signs of doing it's usual I'm done for this summer thing so what was left of it went into the garden cart.  There is more flower room.  The oregano herbs got their first trimming. It smelled so good. More trimming happened at the home owners property line.  That's getting skipped. I have more work to do there.

A refreshed primrose bed.  We'll see if it works.  If not we'll try something else.

Then it was back in the house late afternoon for more soccer.  Fun, fun.  Supper was on the patio with a wonderful refreshing breeze and a quiet environment.  That was after the neighbors lawn mower left.

Color is starting to show up in the garden.  There will be more soon.

I found more soccer games to watch in the evening.  I'm turning into a soccer junky. I guess it could be worse.

The larger primrose bed got a do over with more spruce up planting of zinnias and marigolds.                                         I would say it's pretty full and finished.  Now we wait.
