Saturday

After coffee and paper and listening to the birds, most of the morning was spent in the garden.  The deer left everything alone.

A little bug eaten but still enjoyable.   It's the first day lily to bloom.
But the baby squirrel was seen sitting on the bird feeder by climbing the brick on the side of the house this morning.  Garden work is never finished, over or done.  The plants keep on growing as do the weeds. It would appear that the cucumbers have doubled their size overnight. There are places more difficult to get to that go on the waiting list for attention and this morning a bit of that work was completed.  I moved some ground cover to the front of the house where needed that gave me space to move a baby Hosta giving it space to grow.  I could do a little more of that but not today. More rain is expected tomorrow.  I'm staying away from the cucumbers.  Maybe Jack climbed a cucumber vine instead of a bean stalk.
The second of four currently on the way.  There will be more.

A little more fluffing has been completed and I'm not quite sure what to do with two spots where spring primrose are located.  They are looking very tired perhaps wanting to sleep for the rest of the year.. They are not hot weather plants. It is not a good look.  Given time, I'll come up with a solution.

Thanks to the rain, I have never seen so many blossoms on this bush.  It's beautiful.                                                       A plant swap gift from Nicci and Paul a few years ago.

Lunch happened and then it was sleepy time for me.  That was huge.  Last night didn't get started right away watching the US win their first soccer game.  I also kept my eye on the Kennedy Center.

So after that big long  early afternoon sleep it was on to another soccer game.  I love the magic of bodies moving up and down the green field, two teams working against each other. Then comes a moment of unplanned excitement. The planets aline. The games could be a bit shorter but that will never happen.  It seems to be a part of the fight seeing how long one can last in the heat of the day.  There will be more televised playing into the night. Now if I could only garden and stay active while watching.  Sitting is not a healthy activity for people my age.  It's a positive thing that players have time to regenerate their bodies between games.  The next US game is next Friday.

A city of sensitive ferns.  They tend to stay around all summer while ostrich ferns turn brown.                                                       Yes...the first one came from the plant swap.

Today was a huge Pride afternoon for our church.  I wanted to participate but decided that big crowd things should not be a part of my health life for now.  There are a lot of pictures posted on Facebook that give me a sense of what happened today.  After the parade there is a party in the park with North having a booth. I worked a two hr. shift a few years ago.  It's a busy place. Tomorrow we will hear more from visitors from the Saturday experience worshiping with us.  It always is the case and I would expect the same tomorrow.
