Tuesday
The ever present for now Holly Hock. I can't get enough of them.
I started the morning with coffee on the patio wearing a sweatshirt to stay warm. After a few minutes I happened to look up to the sky and on the way spotted a beautiful bright orange oriole sitting near the top of our tall, tall green fir tree with the sun spotlighting and the blue sky above. What a wonderful, beautiful way to start today or just any day. I call that an unbelievable gift given to me. How could I keep from singing!
This was an easy morning...Well, sort of easy. I just mostly sat in a chair, then I moved to a chair in Zionsville. It was dentist day. So I would say it was a good morning of sitting. Well, sort of. I had a wonderful teeth cleaner. She needs to stay hired. So pleasant and didn't talk at all. I like none talker cleaners. I think they pay attention to what they are doing. We did plenty of talking when she was finished. All was in good order with not a hint of bad news. And yes, I'm happy it's over. I get a bit tired of body care from time to time. But right now, that's my job. Just tired of thinking about it at times. All other times I'm in the garden. A wonderful place to be.
One of these days there will be cooked cabbage slathered in BUTTER!But before the Zionsville trip Eric and Kat stopped over. At a neighbor's give away stand last week at the street I found one of those cups that stay hot after being programed. Bran new as my dad would say. Woo. I was one happy camper. I wanted one not even knowing they existed. They exist. I have a feeling the neighbors are not coffee/hot tea drinkers. That hot drink mug would not have been on the give way table if they were. Kat got the job completed. The directions were in Teeny Tiny Print!
That was morning. On the way home across 106th street again I was reminded of my radiation days when after each session I would roll into Rosie's to move my mind to a better place. It was a wonderful way to return to the normal world looking at beautiful flowers. So, you guessed correctly. As I passed the street to Rosie's the car did a round about and Rosie's was right ahead. The lettuce patch is showing age and I knew it would be gone soon. What vegetables were still available? Yes...I found a really good looking egg plant. We always had those in my growing up years. The beautiful color always was a great marker for me. And I loved egg plant. Not peas, beans and other vegetables but I really liked and still like egg plant. Doug didn't grow up with egg plant so you know what's on his not eating list? Egg plant. So sad. the plant landed in the garden this afternoon. Yeah!
Three tiny egg plant have formed already and the flowers say more are on the way. The plant itself is beautiful.I spent some time at neighbor Kathy asking to borrow a long shovel. Mine is little and short. Maybe like me. We're digging a plant that has a long tap root and I hope this borrowed shovel will help the plant along. I'm giving it my best shot. Another Kathy arrived around 5 and we did the planned digging. Tap roots make plant survival when moved difficult. She is a plant nut and I'm sure between the three starts we found, the success factor will show up.
There was time for soccer. Then time in the garden. Yesterday I did a lot of transplanting. Last night I found holes I forgot to fill. That happened and yes I found a little zinnia plant some night creature though needed to receive a second transplant if lucky enough to be alive after the first. It doesn't look to hot at the moment. So I filled more "empty" spot. They really weren't very empty but I persevered.
The herb Fever Few. What do I do with that? Lots of enjoyment looking at it.Supper happened and of course there was evening soccer. The days weeks and months have been wonderful. I am so grateful beyond words for having friends, a body that still works, especially in the garden, a beautiful place to live, a loving husband, sons, grandsons along with their mothers and a church that cares. Thanks be to God for the Shower of Blessings.
Now it's time for TV and Soccer.
