Wednesday

Mother bunny was near by baby bunny seen in this picture.  Both eating clover.  Good bunnies.  Maybe.

I'm sure you are looking for an blog explanation.  Well, at least some of you.  Saturday morning I started experiencing some strange pain unlike what I've ever had.  And eventually we were off to the ER for some explanations. Some things came easy and some things took a while.  So what became a short hospital ER trip turned into a four day hospital stay.

                                                                        Never disappointed.

The simple truth was the pancreas wasn't happy. Then the question what was causing it to feel grouchy. The answer was gallstones.  Now this all happened starting on Saturday.  Then came Sunday as usual and and as you know those two days are called the weekend.  And the weekend at a hospital is rather slow.  No, down right slow or could we say it's stuck in the ditch with not much of anything happening and no toe truck available.  Monday came and decisions to proceed were made late in the afternoon and then pretty much all unmade about two hours later.  A body that has some immune issues, a gift cancer gives, made that happen.  So the route to correcting all of what needs correcting will be pretty slow.  In the meantime caution will happen giving the pancreas time to return to health which cannot be hurried. It has it's own speed. The stone heap must receive a kid glove treatment.  The stomach will have it's inside picture taken looking for any problem and then it's back to the surgeon to make some decisions depending on what other things happen in the next three weeks.  It's buckets of caution making sure the right decision is made to arrive at the right outcome.  I'm so fortunate having other super health markers apparent along with cancer currently staying in the background.  It's a work in progress, not without effort.

These snap dragons wintered over.  They are small but another wonderful gift.

I received great care having been seen by the ER doctors, the resident hospital doctor, the hospital resident cancer doctor, a doctor from the downtown Simon Cancer Center, the surgeon and  my best friend from church Dr. James H and his PA wife Heidi. all wanting to do their best to assure that the correct decisions were being made.  Also visiting was our ministers Jill and Darren. The nursing staff was great along with all the aides. But the truth of the matter is it's pretty nice to be home again having some answers but knowing the road to hearing is still a bit longer than I would like. This weekend plus 2 days journey brought so many memories of the cancer journey. So far, we have no reason why this happened.  It just did.   Doug's mother went through this same illness.  I understand her pain which was tremendous.  Her recovery was very long in time.

The scene for the last four days.  Great television as you can see.  I walked the halls many times                         encouraged by the P T lady.   I always hoped to find something new to think about.

Sunday, Heidi and James brought one of the church altar flower arrangements to snazzy up the room.  Tonight I left it at the hospital for the nurses to enjoy.  It's been an eventful four days that have challenged my patience at times but once again have reminded me of how fortunate to be a part of a great health system that brings good care to all.

So already tonight I have looked at the garden.  Dead headed where needed.  Watered the pots of flowers and know that in the morning there will be more watering in various places.  Doug has done a great job of keeping things going which isn't to easy when trying to cover a lot of territory. We are so fortunate the hospital is only about 2 miles away. Less then a 10 minute drive. We've watched a lot of soccer which we really enjoyed with one exception...Shoot outs don't interest us one bit. Let's win or loose in 90 minutes boys. And now with the weeks temperature. continuing on it's Biblical fiery furnace beet we'll keep life simple for sure.

Bergamot! I get one of these this year having transplanted them not long ago.
