Friday

 Today started like none other.  Yes, there was breakfast and all the start the day things.  

Then came a text from my Cleveland WNBA lady friend who is now my FIFA Basketball friend.  The first USA game being played in Berlin Germany was at 8 am this morning against China.  And we watched it together even though we were miles away from each other.  And USA was the winner by a whole bunch.  Good shooting.  Super defense against a 7 ft. 2 player and another player way over 6 ft.  Our tallest player's Visa was lost in the mail.  Now what do we think of that.  She is stuck here in the states.  Anyway, it was a great game even though the score was a bit lop sided.  The next game is Sunday afternoon with the third one on Monday afternoon.  So the beat goes on.  

The rest of the day was pretty quiet with small meals I call nibbles that carried me thought.  Breakfasts are small but right now, not small enough.  Who would have thought a small container of yogurt with some added blue berries would be to much.  I've got to rethink something about that combination to make it work.

A few days ago Marcia from Novi called.  I missed the call thinking that after hearing about the bad storms crossing over Novi a few nights ago might not have been a good time for calling.  Today I returned the call which always needs to happen when there is a long time to talk.  Marcia is a camping friend from when our children were little.  They still travel to Copper Harbor to visit with friends there. Their rains are still continuing in the Novi area as well as some flooding in Midland. Just like us a few weeks ago needing rain but getting way to much, that has happened in Michigan as well. 

This should be the last day of hot weather.  The fan continues to fan and staying quiet helps a whole lot.  There was no garden walk this morning.  Tomorrow should see walks continue.

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...

 It's 7 PM and 66 degrees maybe with a breeze off the lake.  Changed to long pants and a better jacket.  It's cloudy right now with a chance of rain tonight.  Most rains are not predicted so it's maybe yes and maybe no.  So what was today like.  Check what was posted for yesterday with  kayaking deleted. Read, slept, walked and played cards once again.  We had icecream at the Fort Store.  That was a first.   We played a couple of games of Kubb.  It's a great yard game that one can become proficient in quickly.  The WiFi is really slow for picture up loads so one will need to do.   Tonight the JB family will begin packing for home.  The camp kitchen will come down and tomorrow morning the tent will be next.  The hope is that they will leave the campground no later than 10 after their last pancake breakfast at our dining fly.  It's always a sad time but the plan is to do this all over again next year...

 This morning...nothing different.  Cards and Pancakes with no rain and none promised.  That could change but so what.  A little rain never has stopped us from doing.   The first big bottle of syrup and the first bag of pancake mix is gone but there is more stashed away.  We never run out of breakfast fixings.  The second book is well on the way. I think it's the same for Doug.  I spent the afternoon with Natasha sitting on the deck and visiting with her mother Dorthy.  She is a great storyteller.  Natasha's dad is our potter friend Dennis.  Natasha is also a potter among many other things.  This is a picture of the shop.  A large deck behind the deck is a sweet place to visit and make new friends.   Today our church friends Jeanie and Neal arrived.  They will be here for 3 nights.  We'll do a little visiting later around the Jared Russell campfire giving them some ideas of what they might like to ...
