Saturday

Saturday with the young folks is different then Saturday with the old folks. That is not exactly correct. It's a whole lot different. So with a short memory of how it happened a few years ago...Here goes what today was like. 
                            Waiting for the parade to start. My pockets are full of candy sevener's.

I can say as I usually do that I sleep better in Michigan then at home.  The new reason...Nothing here is waiting for me to do.  Could that be true? Not sure but that's the current theory as of today.  We at some point were all up.  Adam is such a sound sleeper that his alarm went for an hour before he woke up.  Now everyone else was sleeping as well with one exception.  When he did wake up he was soon off to work for another long day.  He works many long days. We were off to T. Hortons for doughnuts and then to the bagel shop and then for a stop at Walgreens.  Trips out on Sat. like I just wrote about have been a staple at this house since this marriage happened 20 some years ago.  We passed the house in Midland that was the first  JBRussell's that was house number one  Russell's.  A must every Saturday.
                    Middle kiddo who is helping Grandma but some Skittles, a once favorite of Eli's.



Back home again for a little bit and then it was off to Sanford where the annual Founders Day Celebration was held.  The Meridian Band played, Eli being a member of the band. It was HOT!  Woo.  But we carried on with a good crowd and lots to see at the Museum.  


Home for lunch and then off to Eli's Soccer game which they won by 5 points. Eli played goalie and then a defender position.  The setting for the games is a beautiful field with many teams working their hearts out.  Many ages ages represented. There is always a breeze flowing and adding white puffy clouds made the time there feel perfect. It's a place one would want to find in many cities around the USA.  All three of our grandsons spent years playing on these fields.  
        Number three son Eli in the pink socks.  A good soccer player today with lots of contributions.

Home again and I was happy to stay put in the chair which led to some blog entries for the day. Jared and Kimmy made another trip out but better senses told us to keep it simple.  
                                    First born Jacob and girlfriend Ali.  Jacob is a Jr. in college.

Later the card playing continued after a squeaking by win by Kimmy.  That girl has all the luck. Not by much with me really close behind and Jared somewhere in the dark.  Poor baby! Doug went to bed early. He was the smartest one.

More game playing will happen tonight. Staying up with the FiBa or sometimes I read FiFa b. games is a must with tomorrow being the final game between France and the USA.

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...

 It's 7 PM and 66 degrees maybe with a breeze off the lake.  Changed to long pants and a better jacket.  It's cloudy right now with a chance of rain tonight.  Most rains are not predicted so it's maybe yes and maybe no.  So what was today like.  Check what was posted for yesterday with  kayaking deleted. Read, slept, walked and played cards once again.  We had icecream at the Fort Store.  That was a first.   We played a couple of games of Kubb.  It's a great yard game that one can become proficient in quickly.  The WiFi is really slow for picture up loads so one will need to do.   Tonight the JB family will begin packing for home.  The camp kitchen will come down and tomorrow morning the tent will be next.  The hope is that they will leave the campground no later than 10 after their last pancake breakfast at our dining fly.  It's always a sad time but the plan is to do this all over again next year...

 This morning...nothing different.  Cards and Pancakes with no rain and none promised.  That could change but so what.  A little rain never has stopped us from doing.   The first big bottle of syrup and the first bag of pancake mix is gone but there is more stashed away.  We never run out of breakfast fixings.  The second book is well on the way. I think it's the same for Doug.  I spent the afternoon with Natasha sitting on the deck and visiting with her mother Dorthy.  She is a great storyteller.  Natasha's dad is our potter friend Dennis.  Natasha is also a potter among many other things.  This is a picture of the shop.  A large deck behind the deck is a sweet place to visit and make new friends.   Today our church friends Jeanie and Neal arrived.  They will be here for 3 nights.  We'll do a little visiting later around the Jared Russell campfire giving them some ideas of what they might like to ...
