Sunday in Michigan

 



Yes...Sunday in Michigan.  It's been full and fun.  Up early as usual with a lot of visiting until it was time to leave for church in Midland.  The ministers messages have not disappointed and today once again a great message was given to those worshipping at Midland Free Methodist Church.  


Then off to do the usual and that's to two pizza shops for take out pizza.  And then onward to home.  That has been a tradition for a very, very long time.  


I did another walk around the gardens again taking more pictures to carry home with me.  And that happened on an upgrade in iPhones.  I now have Eli's former phone with Eli getting a hand me down from Kimmy who got a new phone.  


Then we were on to Dahlia Hill to see some knock out Dahlias.  That trip is a must do trip when we visit in the fall.  The Dahlias were beginning to open but not all.  Maybe half for today.  They are beautiful and you see some postings today.  


Then it was back home for a couple of football games.  Popcorn and Ice cream happened because it's Sunday evening.  A tradition carrying on for generations in this family.  A movie followed and the evening came to a screeching halt.  It's been another fun day for a whole lot of reasons.  I've named a few but not all.  A weekend to remember. We're back on the road tomorrow for a lot of reasons not to be ignored.

Red sails in the morning, Sailors take warning.   The warning sign was miss thinking about a wonderful day with a gorgeous sunrise, but it turned into anything but wonderful. And after yesterday's blog entry, what was hoped to be a good week had a dismal beginning.  Jared called to tell us that Sunday evening Wyatt, their beautiful red poodle stopped eating and by three in the morning of Monday as Jared was driving to Lancing to the Vet at Michigan State, Wyatt died.  Wyatt was one wonderful dog in every sense of the word.  Smart, friendly, protective with absolute understanding about so many things.  Today and the days ahead will be days of mourning eventually becoming times of reflections about all the good that Wyatt brought to us.  His camping chair is now sitting in our living room reminding us of that goodness he gifted us.  After hearing about this event, I took a walk outside to clear my head and heart and found the first of many crocus bl...

 It's 7 PM and 66 degrees maybe with a breeze off the lake.  Changed to long pants and a better jacket.  It's cloudy right now with a chance of rain tonight.  Most rains are not predicted so it's maybe yes and maybe no.  So what was today like.  Check what was posted for yesterday with  kayaking deleted. Read, slept, walked and played cards once again.  We had icecream at the Fort Store.  That was a first.   We played a couple of games of Kubb.  It's a great yard game that one can become proficient in quickly.  The WiFi is really slow for picture up loads so one will need to do.   Tonight the JB family will begin packing for home.  The camp kitchen will come down and tomorrow morning the tent will be next.  The hope is that they will leave the campground no later than 10 after their last pancake breakfast at our dining fly.  It's always a sad time but the plan is to do this all over again next year...

 This morning...nothing different.  Cards and Pancakes with no rain and none promised.  That could change but so what.  A little rain never has stopped us from doing.   The first big bottle of syrup and the first bag of pancake mix is gone but there is more stashed away.  We never run out of breakfast fixings.  The second book is well on the way. I think it's the same for Doug.  I spent the afternoon with Natasha sitting on the deck and visiting with her mother Dorthy.  She is a great storyteller.  Natasha's dad is our potter friend Dennis.  Natasha is also a potter among many other things.  This is a picture of the shop.  A large deck behind the deck is a sweet place to visit and make new friends.   Today our church friends Jeanie and Neal arrived.  They will be here for 3 nights.  We'll do a little visiting later around the Jared Russell campfire giving them some ideas of what they might like to ...
