Fun Friday.
For years...how many? Noah has been visiting with his grandparents on Fridays. What a great time to to hear conversations that are just very interesting. Today will be another one of those. Years ago when visiting in the summer months, Noah was obsessed with digging in the garden. He had his own shovel. Every week there was a hole somewhere. The holes usually were filled in at the end of the visit much to Noah's disappointment. So on one visit the hole was left for the next visit which continued until the hole was big enough for Noah to rest in. Although Noah was small at that point the hole could be said to be large. That particular flower bed was impacted in a big way but Grandma the teacher saw the importance of letting discovery happen in the dirt. But a turning point in learning was due. With the insertion of a 10 gal. liner, the hole was fashioned into a little pond. Noah's pond. The flowerbed was enlarged to surround the pond and Noah and I...Grandma... were happy about the turn of events. No more digging and a Noah pond. A solar bubbler and fish were added along with plants some years. A new bubbler is in the pond now and this is fish day for this year. We're off to the Reef. What an interesting place to see a whole lot of different salt and fresh water fish along with pone plants and then there is the BIG parrot to watch. The Reef has been here for years and years and when Uncle Rick was just a kid, he worked there, it being just a few steps from the Russell home. Today it will be a few gold fish added to keep thing a bit more interesting for us and the neighbor cat who visits often. Watch out fish.
This is a nippy morning. No walk so far. The grass, mowed Wed. is beautiful and green making picture frames around the gardens. More edging, moving a garden walkway ways to better surround the swamp milkweed was yesterday's garden job. Two Joe Pye plant clusters were dug out allowing for more vegetable space meaning peppers and ?. The goal is to plant what the deer will leave alone since they seem to do nightly visits. They love blooming tomatoes and beans and sunflower seeds. I do have a bottle of stinky deer off for plants. Spraying is another job I'm trying to eliminate that should comes with wise planting. .
Looking forward to another beautiful Monarch summer with flowers attracting them and milkweed to feed their babies. Speaking of babies...Mrs. Blue Bird is busy keeping her five blue eggs warm for hatching. Mr. Blue Bird is right there bringing food to her as she works on the warming part. Ah Spring...Another song...In the bud there is a flower, in cocoon a hidden promise, there's a spring that waits to be ..Something God alone can do. Come on spring and then summer. It will be filled again with surprises sent from God.
