Sad Day.

The Michigan Russell's left for home this morning.  That is always a sad day for them as well as Doug and I.  Even the dog is sad.

All good things come to an end at some point but Lord willing and the creeks don't rise...we'll be back together again next year.  Jacob is 16 so that means 16 years of family camping fun.  Kayaks on top, 4 bikes on the back of the trailer, 1 bike on back of the car.  It works.  There could be a different arrangement next year when the hope is that the canoe comes along.  We had rain

We had a touch of rain last night. The rain on the tent is just the best sound.  The rest of our time here should be warmer and sunny.  As usual, my chair is in the sun which is keeping me warm.  Reading and sleeping continue.  This afternoon we made another stop at the Jam Pot.  Father Basil was busy with customers and our conversation was with one on the

other monks who discussed all the round-a-bouts that are in Carmel.  Small world for sure.  Cookies, jelly, and a muffin will come home with us.  Proof that monks' knowledge includes what is happening in other places.  Tonight, Doug wants to make another pass at the Fort store for ice cream

.
It would seem that I need to post again pictures of Pebble Beach so I will.  The pebbles are hugh in my extimation.
So for now...Saturday evening, still time to collect oneself and enjoy the clear fresh air with a book a nap or anything else that comes to mind.  Another picture to add a bit of humor.
These two have a great relationship.  It's snack time and Wyatt knows exactly what to do to make that happen.  Doug is such a wimp but easy to be when around such a smart dog.  Always on his best behavior, never a problem and follows all the Russell rules to a T.  Of course I'm talking about Wyatt and not Doug!!! Wyatt has his own camping chair with his name posted.  Wi Fi is a bit faster tonight.

  1. Morning! That is one amazing puppy! Looks like they are the best of friends❤️

We watched pictures last night of a trip to CH 7 years ago... we all looked so much younger😳.
The girls really enjoyed it. Lots of smiles and laughs!

  2. Good-bye, kayaks! Good-bye, boys! Good-bye, Wyatt! Sad moments, but great pictures of the leave-taking.

And, thank you, Lela, for pebble beach. I evidently missed an earlier one. Now I can rest in peace.

Enjoy your book in the sun. It sounds lovely. The sun here would burn me to a crisp today. And sitting in the shade would be like sitting submerged in water. Hot and humid in Georgia. So, I am staying inside with water to drink and AC!

  3. I've sure enjoyed all of your wonderful pictures and posts. Always hard to leave! Love that picture of Wyatt and Doug. Wyatt thinks he's human. Such a great dog! Smart to know how to get treats too! Will be praying for your safe travels home.
